Muslim employee files discrimination complaint against NY DMV for not accommodating his schedule for Friday prayers
The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY) announced Monday that an employee filed a discrimination complaint against the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) for not accommodating his schedule for his Friday prayers.
A 40-year-old Bengali-American filed the complaint against the New York DMV Friday after he said the department failed to adjust his schedule for Friday prayers and Ramadan after his repeated requests. He said in the complaint that it is his sincerely held religious belief that I attend Friday congregational prayer.
Because I am observing my faith at work, my job is at risk, he said in the complaint.
The part-time employee was hired at the DMV in January and asked for an accommodation allowing him to attend Friday prayers for an hour by taking his lunch and office breaks at the same time. He received approval for that adjustment in February, allowing him to leave work for prayer, but it expired after three months, according to the complaint.

His complaint needs to be thrown out and he needs to be fired, since he doesn’t want to work during regular working hours.
The word Islam means “Submission”.
Next they will file discrimination lawsuits for not being allowed to beat female customers who show their ankles in public.
Wait till he sues because he is offended by toilet tissue in the mens room hate crime!!!
Religious accommodations aren’t new. IIRC the general test is that the business or government has the ability to accommodate, and will not be a great detriment. If they offer 4/10’s would be one way.

This is what they will do. They can totally disable this country if they realize the extent of the power that they have over us.
They can get a job, and then do little or no work, and sue the employer.
Not my problem his allah can only hear prayers at a certain time of day, and only if groveling in a certain direction.
Strangely, I don’t have an issue with this. Governmental offices should be open so people don’t have to take time off to make a visit. if that means being open till 9 or 10 in the evening great. They are there to serve citizens. also I would extend this to banks. I work easily an hour either side of their open close, so I have to cut into my workday to conduct banking biz.
He needs to be disappeared.

Many businesses used to close early on Good Friday so people could go to church, not so much any more but they should still allow people to use vacation/holiday time if they want to use it for that. I worked at a bank several years ago and they wouldn’t allow us to use breaks, the two fifteen minute ones in an 8 hour shift to add a half hour to our lunch because they were paid breaks to be taken at specific times and you were paid for them whether you took them or not. I’m not a huge fan of Muslims in general but it seems like if they agreed to accomodate him when he was hired they shouldn’t go back on that.
If he’s only part time, then he can have the Friday’s off.
Because what he’s really doing here is trying to impose islam on the rest of us through litigation.
