The State Department’s been fighting presidents since long before Trump
NY Post ^ | October 22 2019 | Betsy McCaughey

House Democrats are grilling a stream of disgruntled career diplomats in a basement hearing room of the Capitol. The hearings are supposed to be secret, but Democrats leak snippets of the testimony daily. They are hoping it will add up to a case for impeaching President Trump.

So far, all the testimony actually proves is these State Department diplomats think they, not Trump, ought to be running foreign policy. Never mind impeachment. The most pressing constitutional issue is who decides the nation’s foreign policy, the president or the permanent bureaucracy.

House Democrats are accusing Trump of offering Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a quid pro quo: dirt on Joe Biden in exchange for nearly $400 million in aid. Trump’s July 25 phone call with Zelensky is the subject of the hearings, but these witnesses have no first-hand knowledge.

All of it.

I have extended family in the State Dept.
They thought Bush 41 and 43 were idiots but harmless.
They hated with a passion Reagan.
They also dislike most Ambassadors as brainless appointees.

The strangest thing was their hate of Silicon Valley engineers.
They were convinced we all worked 40hr work weeks, lived in luxury and had millions in stock options.

They really thought the world would end without the work they did.
What a laugh!

US Diplomats of the Department of State have had a superiority complex for generations. Having dealt with them in the sixties on a number of matters, I reached the conclusion that they, as a group, really think everyone else is inferior to them - that were just uneducated and uninformed when in actuality they were the ones in the wrong.

Hard to believe all the things this lone President has accomplished and uncovered.

I remember when Condi Rice was SOS. She, quietly, without any ambition to change the corruption, admitted that the department was...not her word...unsalvageable. She virtually threw up her hands and went about her business.

It was so perverse, that maybe I would have done the same thing.

It will never change until civil service laws are revised or better yet, abolished.

The house is becoming an INSULT to banana republics.

Partner, the DemonRat party is becoming unhinged right now and we love it.

The Democrats of today just "Hate this country with a passion".

What a "crock" having secretive meetings by the DemonRat party in Congress of all places. Here we thought that Congress is the People's House.

The Democrat party we hope loses big time in next year's presidential election year and President Trump wins in a landslide.

I worked with a guy who used to fly DC-3s in Laos during the war. Went all over that area. He had to get a accordion-type folder pasted into his passport and it was FULL.

He figured since he had visited all these places, he’d try for a job with the State Department while over there.

The guy hands him a form to fill out, which he does, and hands it in. The clerk takes one look at it and says “You obviously don’t follow instructions.” The DC-3 guy asks what he is talking about. The clerk says, “The instructions say to place an ‘X’ in the box and you used checkmarks.”

The DC-3 guy told the clerk that if they were THAT chickenshit, he wanted no part of them.

It sounds like that mentality is prevalent at State.

“It’s long past time to eliminate civil service protections, and have the President, and the Secretary of State, be able to fire (and hire) at will.”

After every presidential election, every federal government worker from GS7 to the top level should have to submit a signed and dated resignation letter to the new president.

The new president would have the opportunity to accept or ignore these letters, whenever he/she/it decides that person should leave or to keep the employee.

If the president decides to accept the resignation, the employee is terminated and gets 4 weeks separation pay and any unused vacation. They are escorted from their office when the new president accepts their resignation letter.

The same rule would apply to any flag officer in the military.

I don’t like the weasel words out of McConnell today.

I DONT TRUST the deep state OR anyone in congress.

And they DONT CARE that we know that we are not a free country anymore, not really.

They want Trump out and they are working on blackmailing enough Rs to make it happen.

State serves the desires of the ruling establishment.

It has been said that J.F. Kennedy was assassinated because he thought he was the President of the United States.

The only difference between McConnell and Rommney is that Mittens doesn’t sneak about to stab you in the back.
