Judge bans business owners from stating Christian beliefs

A federal judge has affirmed a Colorado law that effectively bans business owners from freely expressing in public their religious beliefs about marriage and homosexuality.

Colorado was the loser in a similar dispute, the Masterpiece Cakeshop case in which the U.S. Supreme Court ruled the state show "hostility" to the Christian beliefs of Jack Phillips in its handling of his refusal to make a cake for a same-sex wedding. Since then, openly homosexual Democratic Gov. Jared Polis has pursued a gay-rights agenda that includes allowing people to indicate their sex on driver's licenses according to their "gender identity" and banning counselors from helping young people who want to rid themselves of same-sex attractions.

Now, Judge Marcia Krieger has upheld a Colorado law that barred web designer Lorie Smith and her studio 303 Creative "from publicly expressing the religious reasons she declines" to promote same-sex marriage.

Smith, defended by the Alliance Defending Freedom, filed the lawsuit against members of the Colorado Civil Rights Commission, Attorney General Cynthia Coffman and Aubrey Elenis, director of the Colorado Civil Rights Division.

I think it’s time for America to cease the position of federal judge.

Another reason why the next Supreme Court picks are important and why President Trump must win. We still need two or three more to hold that Court solid.

Sounds unconstitutional to me.

That ruling, patently unconstitutional, MUST be ignore, rejected, and nullified. It is an illegal ruling.

America: WAKE UP! Judges are NOT the supreme law of the land. THE CONSTITUTION IS THE SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND (U.S. Const., Art. VI, Cl. 2).

That will last about ten seconds at the SCOTUS, unless Roberts can declare it a tax.

Wha5 good are court precedents if one side will not honor them. This is a clear parallel to the Mastrerpiece case decided by the USSC but lower judges failed to abide by what the highert has held.

So, Lorie Smith can only say she declines to design websites for homosexuals and not why?

Yeah, FREE SPEECH cannot be abridged by judicial fiat. Especially against a specific class of people, or in this case business owners.

This "judge" needs to get bitch-slapped back down by the USSC in a hurry. This cannot wait until next session, aand I hope Lorie Smith tells the judge to STUFF IT.

The judge has no business telling people what to believe. First Amendment enjoins him from it.

And the government must remain neutral in religion.

This is why federal judges should serve only eight-year terms.

I've been hollering at the TV about the same thing. I wish the next time president Trump receives some dumb ruling he would say, "we will be appealing the judge's decision and meanwhile we intend to carry on until it is overruled on appeal."

This (GW Bush appointed) district court judge took senior status back in March 2019 but Trump has not yet nominated a replacement. Perhaps because of the existence of the Blue Slip process for District judges.

LINDSEY GRAHAM needs to get rid of that process which is allowing one or two Senators to extra-Constitutionally VETO Trump District Court nominees IN CRITICAL SPOTS. If we have more Trump judges we’ll have fewer Agendanista decisions such as this one.
