So, how far was VA from switching anyway? Again, the high population centers get to control everything. I still say whoever has votes covering the most acreage should win. NV, despite some folks valiant efforts will probably never go back to red thanks to two counties.

I’m not versed in VA politics, but other than our President, the Republican party is asleep. No message. No voice. No platform. No agenda. No fight.

Pretty cheap. I’m thinking the Fed hiring of Obama was a bigger factor.

Dear Virginians, “If you love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

Thank you, I was just about to say something similar. And it isn't just VA, it's NY, CA, NC, probably all of New England. The virus is spreading, and the GOP doesn't seem to care (except for Trump, of course). Ronna Romney needs to be shown the door as she has had two straight bad election cycles that lacked a message of any type. Money isn't a problem, apparently, as the GOP is supposedly taking in a lot more than the 'Rats, but the RNC must be lining their pockets with that cash since they aren't doing anything with it.

The gop slept while the democrats worked. The RNC has plenty of money to counter the democrats money but clearly they were not interested.

I know progressives don’t care about the Constitution (Federal and state)——but that should not matter. Whether Democrat or Republican it doesn’t matter if the “citizens” want BS common sense gun laws, we are a Constitutional representative republic....period!The oath of the politician is to the constitution and then the constituents. Meaning if it’s Unconstitutional, then your feelings, all the polls, etc do NOT matter. No more of this nonsense, these are the treasonous scum. BTW, here’s the VA constitution on firearms-—

“That a well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the proper, natural, and safe defense of a free state, therefore, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; …”

No, they won’t but outside the big cities it will be much more difficult.

There were 30 non opposed seats in this election. The GOP was asleep at the switch...................

Chances are VERY high that a scumbag named George Soros had a stake in this.

The only way left to save Virginia is to drastically downsize the FedGov and carry out MASSIVE, MASSIVE FIRINGS of bureaucrats.

Not likely to happen in any of our lifetimes unfortunately.

That’s because they only have the Presidency and the Senate. We have to give them back the House!” /sarc

gopE and conservatives ain’t the same. The gopE has gotten a lot of folks to supporting individual candidates but not the party as a ‘hole’.

VA is the test state. It started in 2002 after Bush won VA but lost most of the suburbs. They hunkered down and devise strategies in the 2001 campaign in VA but it was mostly muted because of the events in September. They test messaging schemes, themes and fund-raising methods before rolling them out in red states.
Back in 2017, they rolled out dozens of shadowy groups that existed long enough to air a few misleading ads, send out a few mailers and then they fold-up.
This is what they did in 2018 but most of the orgs are still open for the 2020 push.
These orgs take cash from Soros and his ilk, they distribute it to campaigns and the run ads with the rest. They do this with hundreds of organizations nationwide. They usually dole it all out before election day which is why California money turns up in the Arlington dog-catcher’s race.

I lived in Northern Virginia when you could see the beginning of the trend from red to blue. Influx of immigrants, expanding federal government with tons of employees. It definitely spread out from the DC area. I’ve moved since then but the left has been really targeting Virginia for a long time.

Even Bloomberg has had a eye on destroying the pro-2nd amendment culture in Virginia. For years he’s been pushing gun-control in Virginia, even claiming that smuggled arms in NYC have come from Virginia.

Sad that the article shows the NRA was outspent 8-1 when their headquarters is in Northern Virginia.

If it’s one thing I can say about the left, they are tireless and relentless in pushing their agenda, although it’s easy to maintain that level of passion when most of their activists don’t have to worry about 9-5 jobs and raising families.

What amazes me is the amount of money in non-profits and NGOs that seem to drive their agenda. They seem to have a never ending supply of it.
