The massive bushfires raging across Australia are expected to flare up again as temperatures rise in coming days.

So far, four people have died from the fires, which are feeding off drought-stricken farmland and bush.

Conditions improved on Friday but crews were still battling about 120 blazes across New South Wales and Queensland.

And authorities have warned that a bank of hot air is expected to sweep across the country, escalating the fires.

Temperatures across Western Australia are predicted to hit mid-40Cs at the weekend.

The fires have razed about 300 homes, and burnt through over 1 million hectares of land in NSW.

Keep promoting stupid green envirowacko policies that do nothing but retard growth and prosperity and actually exacerbate the problems its intended to solve, you're going to keep getting this s--t.

You're a freaking continent surrounded by water. (Sam Kinison voice) Build desalination plants!!!

I guess they better get The Bad Swede in there, stat, to ask them: “How Dare You?” (in a “carbon-free” manner, of course).

Yes, and the temperature will keep rising until the middle and lower class proles quit producing CO2. However, ONLY those need to lower their emissions.

hit mid-40Cs at the weekend.

That's approx. 104 degrees F........

If the drought continued and the temps were only in the mid 70's, would there be no fires?

No seriously here.

Israel is the #1 leader in water desalination and they are just a tiny strip of land. How in (Nicholas Cage from "The Rock" here) ZEUS' BUTTHOLE are CA and Australia not building massive desalination plants to convert their deserts into fertile soil to produce abundant food and such?

The technology is there. You surrounded by tons of water. BUILD AND SCREW THE ENVIROWACKOS!

People better hope the atmosphere is warming rather than cooling bcause if it is cooling, food cannot be grown if the world enters an Ice Age. Starvation will be massive.

People better hope the atmosphere is warming rather than cooling. If the world enters an Ice Age, food production will be cut 75% and massive starvation will ensue.

I have been keeping an eye on what is happening to your wonderful country. You are in my thoughts and Prayers.

May you get the needed rain to put out this threat.

I have seen on the radar that there seems to be some rain but not in the right places.

I was in Sydney 20 years ago and brush fires were raging. You could smell them throughout the city and there was a lot of visible smoke in the air outside the city. I get the feeling that this is “just how it is” down there at about this time of year.

I think anyone who tries to tie this to Global Warming is crazy.

My youngest daughter is in Australia for a year, fixing up a house. I haven’t heard that the fires are too near her at the moment, but my email is out.

They could also use desalinated water to keep the ground and plant life damp during the dry, windy brush fire season.

Aren't fires...big fires...pretty common in Australia during the warmer months? They certainly are in western North America during our summer.

If so,are these worse than usual?

Yes, the fires are worse than usual, due to a long drought. Also, many are the result of arson.
