Students at Grand Valley State University in Michigan voted last week to stop reciting the Pledge of Allegiance at student government meetings over concerns that it is discriminatory and oppressive.
According to a report by The College Fix, Grand Valley State University students voted last week to end their tradition of reciting the Pledge of Allegiance before student government meetings. Student activists argued that the pledge was oppressive and discriminatory against international students. The students voted last week 22-10 in favor of the Pledge ban.
Dorian Thompson, a student senator at Grand Valley State University, told The College Fix that student government members made a strong push to end the tradition.
“The arguments to remove it were to create an inclusive environment, that it represented an oppressive government, and that there are international students that we should be representing,” Thompson said in a short comment.

The USA is in big trouble when this generation takes the reins of government.
You wonder why parents would spend their money to send their kids to these commie indoctrination camps. Then you realize half or better of the parents are commies themselves.
Government is oppressive but not for the reasons these little bastards think it is.

Every morning a different student would read from the Bible, then would come the pledge. I always left out the “indivisible” part.

It is neither discriminatory nor oppressive if you are using English correctly. This is the pledge every citizen should know and be able to recite at every civic meeting. A pledge is voluntary.
My old university.
Was very different back at the turn of the century. Not saying it wasn’t left-leaning, but something like this would have been unheard of.
Hopefully the big money donators (the big conservative business families in W. Michigan whom built a lot of the university) will give a “WTF” face to the university president when they need a new building.
Sure, why not?
Why pledge allegiance anymore when everyone claims dual nationality and continues to vote in their former country (in ADDITION to America) after they immigrate to Estados Stupidos?
