A state senator from Luzerne County said Tuesday he is changing his party registration from the Democratic Party to become an Independent, and will start attending caucus meeting in Harrisburg with the majority Republicans.
John Yudichak said in a statement that he is leaving his old party because he is weary of “'purist' politicians who demand that you choose a battle camp. You must pass their litmus test, and declare if you support ‘us,’ or ‘them.’"

Dems haven’t been in control of the State Senate in, god, I don’t know how long... been IN GOP control for ages... Same thing with the State House.... In GOP control for lord knows how long now....
Luzurne Co, even though in NEPA( hotbed of Deomorat politics), has trended more, and more Republican last several election cycles. This, and maybe this guy is just tired of serving state government in the new socialist/communist party?

Luzerne is blue collar Democrat. A bellwether PA county. Includes Scranton and its rural hinterland.
The GOP has controlled the PA State House since 2010 and the Senate since 1994.

Scranton is Lackawanna County, NOT Luzurne Co.
Born & raised in NEPA.
Look at the last several national elections. Luzurne is trending more conservative.

While Philadelphia might qualify as being the anus of the Commonwealth, Scranton would at least be the armpit. Not a good sign for the jack@$$ party when they are jumping ship here.

Wrong - Scranton is Lackawanna county, and went for Hillary. although by a small margine.
Luzerne County has been heavily democrat for years, but in 2016, it went overwhelmingly for Trump (about 60%).
It was a bellwether for the Trump victory and his winning over of the Deplorables that all the polls and pundits missed.

He is a village idiot, but from Lackawanna County (Scranton) not Luzerne.
He is living off his father’s (Gov. Robert Casey) reputation, probably the last morally incorrupt democrat to hold office, and was pro-life.
As a result, Casey Senior was blacklisted by the national democrats and blocked by the Clintons in the 1992 convention from being allowed to speak.

Casey, the turd, I believe resides in Clarkes Green area of Clarkes Summit, just north of Scranton.
