Dems could draft 4 articles of impeachment, GOP plans for full Senate trial, sources say

Abuse of power. Bribery. Contempt of Congress. Obstruction of justice.

Those the four potential articles of impeachment that House Judiciary Committee Democrats could draw up against President Trump as soon as next month, Fox News is told, after all scheduled public hearings before the House Intelligence Committee wrapped up on a testy note Thursday.

At a meeting with top GOP senators and Trump administration officials at the White House on Thursday afternoon, Fox News is told there was a consensus that should Trump be impeached by the House, the GOP-controlled Senate should hold a trial rather than tabling the issue.

Reports have surfaced that Republicans were considering even holding a long trial to disrupt the 2020 presidential primaries. Several Democrats seeking to unseat Trump -- including Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders -- are senators who would need to divert at least some of their campaigning time toward a potential trial.

"I think most everybody agreed there's not 51 votes to dismiss it before the managers get to call their case," Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told Fox News after huddling with other top Republican senators and White House officials. "The idea you would dismiss the trial before they presented the cases is a non-starter. You're not going to get a motion to dismiss."

Bring on the true circus. Senate will be able to call and put under the spotlight people that Schiff keeps in the dark.

The best course of action for Schiff and his idiots is to do a censure. Impeachment will be a death knell.

It still has to go through Jabba the Nadler’s Judiciary Committee.

Pretty good chance it’ll turn into yet another Schitt Show like his previous attempts

LOLOLOL...give me a break! Democrats have been running this stupid circus for about FOUR YEARS now, and now it's going to be the Republicans's fault for "holding a long trial"? We've been in the never-ending trial in the court of public opinion since Trump's election. The Dems are clearly beavering away at destroying the Republic.

Schiff should be called to the stand first then several times during the trial. Not because he will tell us anything worth hearing; I just want to see him sweat through his frumpy suit and look stupid doing it. The shoe on the other foot so to speak.

Agree.

If the impeachment is the campaign, the GOP should use it to show how not only how weak the evidence is, but how sketchy the whole fabric of Democrat influence peddling and overseas double-dealing is. It's not just about Joe Biden, who IMHO will mercifully fade away.

Nonsense on all 4 based on the testimony heard.

The more I watch the more I am convinced this is just about the infantile need of the Democrat Fascist party leadership to “get even” with the GOP for impeaching Clinton.

They could not do it with Bush because of 09-11. Trump is the 1st GOP President they could take a shot at.

The President cannot be in contempt of Congress. Separation of powers. The other stuff has no merit.

The Senate should dismiss.

If they hold a trial, they better use the time to prove that what he did was perfectly legal rather than let these smears smudge any further. Biden admitted to bribery. Ukraine interfered in the election by getting his campaign manager to resign and dig up dirt. Hunter was paid millions and Hunter’s partner lobbied State to intervene in Ukraine’s investigation. Ukraine is horribly corrupt, not one witness said otherwise. Trump was 100% correct to ask that these corruptions be investigated and referred to the Attorney General. These and many other crimes need thorough vetting.

The Senate should vet these issues without an impeachment trial. But if these dimwits in the Senate go ahead they better use it to crush the Democrats and their absurd narratives.

Abuse of Power??

That’s the Democrat-controlled Congress ... doing nothing of real legislative work - its Constitutional duty - but instead exploiting every lever of power to persecute one person

THAT is real abuse - of - power

Firstly, the Democrat witnesses have proved one thing and one thing only. They have no evidence of any wrongdoing. Furthermore they contradict themselves and each other incessently..

Second. Rebuttal witnesses would lay this out to be the farce it is in less than an hour.

The president is in charge of foreign policy. The president has knowledge that these wankers can't even guess at. Schiff is involved not as a fact-finder, but as a co-conspirator.

Based on the Schiff-circus, Republican that vote for removal will be pounding nails in the Republican Party coffin.

I don’t think so. I think they can take a vote immediately and send it to the Senate.

That may be part of the reason, but I suspect the real reason is that they want to energize their base and they want to distract from the litany of known abuses and corruptions that occurred under the Obama administration.

When Trump gets the open field - he hasn’t had it yet - he will wreak devastation on them. Remember he was mired in that whole Mueller fiasco for 2 years, and then the very day after Mueller’s testimony collapsed the Russia Hoax on their heads they concocted this Ukraine narrative. The very next day! They have been relentless.

This is their last shot. After this, payback.

I’m in contempt of Congress. I hope they don’t find out because I don’t have that executive protection.

Exactly right. The whole Mueller charade was the most egregious abuse of power I’ve ever seen. Dragging the nation and POTUS through the muck for almost three long years before a gaggle of Democrat hack lawyers and NOTHING was found. I honestly cannot imagine a greater abuse of power than that.

Except maybe persecuting and imprisoning people like Flynn.

That’s a shame, because dismissal would be the correct legal outcome. The Democrats have not alleged an impeachable offense under any reasonable interpretation of the Constitution, so there is nothing to try.
