Also, we need to stop worrying about collateral damage, it’s a war; civilian casualties are just a fact of life.

True. Exactly my WWII vet grandfather’s opinion on smart bombs and “clean” warfare.

Near-constant US bombings so broke the average German civilian’s spirit that they wanted the war to end regardless of outcome.

You can’t get civilians to place that kind of pressure on their leadership fighting a clean, zero civilian casualty war.

The ship itself holds about 500 tons of ordnance, but they do some re-supply at sea from tender ships, to extend their time on station. Also, planes from the ship could land at regional airfields to arm, or to operate from for some time.

Actually, I now see that they have pulled the aircraft carrier back for other missions, but keep their commitment to the operation (about 30 aircraft) land based in the region - much cheaper and safer than carrier operations.

But they did come in blasting in glorious fashion when they entered the battle, and they got plenty of targets serviced in Raqqa as well. Syria has a long connection to France. back to the Crusades.

The French have been really solid in supporting the fight against ISIS - not only airpower, they also had a direct support artillery battalion on the ground in Syria, firing into the very last scraps of ISIS territory in Deir-ez-Zour.

Assad had Hezbollah’s notorious Imad Mugniyeh, the guy who bombed the French and US Marine barracks in Lebanon, tortured Buckley to death for Iran, and bombed a Jewish center in Argentina, etc - living in Damascus and consorting with Syrian generals.

Assad has always been anti-Israel.

He is partnered with Russia and Iran.

Iran is one of the largest “terrorist” sponsor states. And they support Great Evil.

Admitted. U.S. has chosen partner’s poorly in the recent past in the Middle East. Largely under Obama.

Hezbollah in Lebanon, should be fit for helping Syria. Also fit for helping Syria attach US forces in Lebanon, long ago.
