South Africas state power company intensified rolling blackouts to a record, signaling a deepening crisis at the debt-ridden utility and raising the risk of a second recession in as many years.
Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd. said on Monday it will move to Stage 6 load-shedding from 6 p.m. local time, meaning it will cut 6,000 megawatts from the national grid, after a technical problem at the giant new Medupi Power Station curbed supply. Thats the biggest cut yet. The utility downgraded the status to Stage 4 as of 10 p.m.
The utility is curbing power for a fifth straight day as it struggles with breakdowns at plants and heavy rains that have soaked coal used as fuel. The blackouts have a debilitating effect on the economy by curtailing mining and factory output and causing crippling traffic delays.

I don’t like socialist countries that are also heavily racist while claiming not to be.
Amazing how everything hit the crapper after aparthide.
I wonder why now...
Thats not all...

South Africa and California have a lot in common!
South Africa also has a water shortage problem. Israel offered to send experts to help, but SA said “NO!” to that.
SA in reality is extremely worse if you want to keep breathing.
Electricity and utilities , the field it I have been in for many decades ,is a critical one to society and infrastructure
It was interesting to note that even in my very affluent area when PG&E cut power for five days how much it said people into a panic
But of course PG&E is a very competent utility and they just voluntarily shut off power because they were worried about starting
Lfires not because they didnt have enough megawatts on demand
Two things stood out immediately to me from this article
First of all that theyre just burning coal to make power which is of course the dirtiest fuel possible
Second I know his dad theyre cool somehow got wet because it was raining that is also quite silly
South Africa is running out of not only water but also now electricity this is what happens when you have corrupt socialist types running your government in which almost all African governments are
It takes a lot of knowledge infrastructure fuel and maintenance to maintain a solid and reliable electric grid
we just take it for granted here in the United States of America
It is also amazing how South Africa was always in the news when aparthide was under attack and now that the country has gone to hell under black rule we don’t hear anything about it.
the infrastructure built by others (and taken from them) eventually decays and the commies are screwed. Always the same story.

"Diversity" has less than nothing at all to do with it!
Yikes! We’re supposed to leave for South Africa in about 3 weeks.
Perhaps their newly crowned miss universe has a solution. She seems to be so tuned in to world affairs. /s/
I look forward to the time when wealthy white Liberals are hunted down and necklaced in California.
Sounds like they need a Bolivarian revolution. That always straightens things out.
