The impeachment proceedings against President Trump have fueled all manner of conjecture regarding the proper discharge of foreign policy, hidden motives behind both Trump’s phone call and the ensuing investigation, and everything from the dead-cat bounce of the Mueller Report to the Kurdish policy shift.
But there are a number of questions that, while they should be asked, haven’t been. (Obligatory disclaimer: None of these questions are intended to either excuse or indict the actions of Trump, the impeachment-hearing participants, or anyone else.)
1. Why is the U.S. giving $400 million to Ukraine, anyway?
It makes little sense. Europe is providing aid to Ukraine as it reacts to an encroaching Russia, which annexed Crimea in 2014. One can see how EU nations might be concerned about a Russia with Western ambitions, but with 2,800 miles of Europe and another 3,000 miles of ocean between us (in addition to our being $22 trillion in debt and running the first trillion-dollar budget deficit in history), foreign aid (of all types) is one of a thousand potential starting points for getting our fiscal house in order. Doing so would also ensure that America has clean hands, where the tragic effects of the fog of war are concerned.
2. Exactly how many U.S. government employees are dedicated to dealings with Ukraine?
The parade of present/former U.S. special deputy chief acting assistant provisional envoy policy liaison advisors (and their assistants, drivers, food tasters, etc.) tasked with providing aid, defense advice, and more to Ukraine is staggering — as must be their salaries, and will be their pensions and retirement benefits.

No the number 1 and only question is, if Russia and the Ukraine meddled in the 2016 election, and we have voting machines that are not connected to the internet for them to change votes, and Rosenstien said that not one vote was altered into getting Trump elected, and Trump lost the popular vote by 2.8 million votes, exactly how did they influence our election?
This one topic...number of US gov’t employees on the ‘Ukraine-train’ is something that amazes me.
By the time you go around the CIA, Justice Department, Pentagon, etc....there is probably a minimum of 500 experts on ‘something’. I’ll bet just in the Agriculture Department, there’s a dozen folks who lay some claim to their status.
All of this makes me wonder if they are Ukrainian hookers involved with each one of them.

Now I find it interesting that no one wants to talk about the fact that the last President refused military aid to Ukraine while PDJT, in fact, sent them the aid. Wonder why that is.

Well all I can say is just like the rest of Eastern Europe the Ukraine has some super hot women.
Why are they going through with this? I have the feeling there are a handful of Republican Senators who will vote to convict. The Dems know this.

Only 83% of Democrats support impeachment and 95% of Republicans are against.
Given those numbers, why go through with it? That’s a very good question, indeed.
Trump has already mocked it as impeachment lite and its now going to be worse for the Democrats than if they had simply dropped it.
No. With a a majority of the American people against it and 95% of Republicans, even Pierre Dilecto and the Weak Sisters will vote to acquit.
Democrat case is so flimsy they’ve managed to erode their own base’s support for it and the President is laughing at them.

The only question that needs to be asked is this:
Does the POTUS have the right to investigate allegations of crimes committed by American Citizens in other countries?
If Congress wants to zero in on abuses of power — using unconstitutional power to reward and punish groups at the expense of the American people — they could look at Trump’s near-daily antics with the use of the taxing power called tariffs. Again, alas.
This is not a Trump sycophant and I value his perspective. Trump however is trying his best to punish bad players in world commerce, for example France taxing our digital economy.
Yes, it ended up flimsy. But even worse, Nadler destroyed the sixth amendment by allowing Schiff to snoop on Trump's lawyer's phone calls, among other abuses. There are plenty of rabid Trump haters who believe that it's ok to scrap Constitutional protections for Trump because they hate him. But it's not ok.

Because most of the money is being kicked back to US Politicians and their Families from BOTH parties in one way or another.
I actually agree with you in principle. I think the universal tariffs on aluminum, steel and solar panels could be repealed, with the exception of turkey, china and other bad actors. Also, does he need to charge French fine cheese and wine at 100% because the French are imposing a THREE percent excise on American revenues derived in France??? If that were particularly burdensome for our companies, I would just charge a 3 to 4 percent tariff on all French-made goods, in addition to other tariffs previously imposed on them.
As far as China goes, I would be fine with him immediately taking the 25% tariff he has on some Chinese imports and imposing it on ALL Chinese goods. We can call it the National Security Tax on all that junk we buy from them. And it will be fun watching Gary Kaltbaum whine about it on FOX Business.
If Trump is convicted, the GOP is dead to me.
And the GOP would be doubly dead to me, if Trump is convicted, since this impeachment is a botched piece of crap, the way it’s being carried out. Even if it does turn out Trump withheld that aid to get Ukraine to hurt Biden in the elections, the only proper response, the way this farce has been carried out, is a vote in the Senate to acquit by unanimous consent. He can always be censured instead.
If this were a different President, and it were a criminal court case, Leftamnesty International would be furious.
Don't know the details but perhaps it is a dollar-for-dollar tariff.
