French cops launched tear gas cannisters and charged protesters as tens of thousands of workers took to Paris streets to rally against the government's plan to raise the retirement age to 64. Clashes broke out near the Nation square in eastern Paris during a demonstration, organised by trade unions, to demand that President Emmanuel Macron abandon his reforms. Witnesses said police charged a group of protesters who ignored an ultimatum to disperse and were throwing Molotov cocktails.

Macron must be consoled that Napoleon III tore down Paris and built wide boulevards to prevent barricades.

I thought the Muslim invaders were supposed to make life comfortable for French pensioners.

It’s the EU. They all think someone else owes them a living.

SNORT.

The money comes from the protesters, they were promised retirement at 55 and they have moved it up to 62 and want to move it to 65 but doing it now rather than moving it up gradually on the generations coming up.

The U.S. media does not seem interested in this.

Politicians like Macron and Paul Ryan are birds of a feather. As they import illegal, non-working human sludge, they preach austerity to the working class. I hope the French union workers find a small, dark cage in which to insert Macron & his pals.

Réforme des retraites : Macron envisage « une amélioration possible autour de l’âge pivot »

They all deserve each other. Everyone is out for themselves, to Hell with their country.

Talk about a society that has been completely subjugated and stripped of its masculinity. These Europeans devote more effort to protect their pensions than they do to protect their countries. How pathetic.

The French are different. Even in post war France, they wanted someone else to do all the cleanup, reconstruction, etc.

Germany, by comparison, was very industrious in salvaging building material, reparable furniture, etc.

It's got something to do with the national mindset of the respective countries.

The “official” retirement age is currently 62.

Apparently, many government and union workers can retire in their 50s.

Also, they use a complex retirement point system that many workers think is unfair.

Also - the article refers to Macron as a “pro-business centrist.”

LOL!

Speaking of Germany, from last month....

Why taxes on pensioners in Germany have risen up to 500 percent since 2010

Well, we didn’t riot when SS full retirement was raised. People are simply living longer. If the French use up the money there won’t be any for anyone else. That doesn’t seem very “Liberté, égalité, fraternité”.

OTOH, maybe their money, like ours, was mooched and or stolen.
