Leading House Dem defends Pelosi, blames McConnell for delay in Senate impeachment trial
Fox News ^ | 12/27/19 | Sam Dorman

House Chief Deputy Whip Dan Kildee, D-Mich., defended House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and criticized her Senate counterpart amid controversy surrounding the Speaker's decision not to release the articles of impeachment for a trial in the Senate.

"She is making the right decision," Kildee told CNN on Thursday. "The House of Representatives is not absent from the Senate trial. We're not sort of bystanders to it."

He added: "We have to appoint impeachment managers and organize the case around the structure that the Senate arrives at in order to present our case in the most compelling way. Determining who the impeachment managers, in part, is going to be determined by how the Senate organizes the trial.”

Kildee also accused Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., of playing "games."

"He has an important responsibility under the Constitution -- not just to defend the president but to conduct a trial in a dignified and open and fair fashion," he said. "So when he's willing to do that, then obviously we will appoint managers and send that information, the articles, over."

The pressure is mounting and cracks are forming. They'll be destroyed by the person they hate the most. Stay the course, Mitch. Make them squirm.

All they have to do is read the Clinton rules for impeachment. It was agreed by the senate with 100 votes.

Pelosi failing to turn over the articles to the Senate for trial is Mitch McConnell’s fault.

Got it.

We have to appoint impeachment managers and organize the case around the structure that the Senate arrives at in order to present our case in the most compelling way.

Yes, that is what prosecutors are supposed to do. But they don't get to tell the judge how to run his courtroom.

I have a solution.

The Articles of Impeachment are printed on the Congressional Record. Mitch can simply take those; start the trial, and ask for the House to produce their managers. If they do not, simply declare the Articles null and void.

Make sure this scum can’t find peace. Hound him out of restaurants and every other public place. Harass his family at their home. Such is Godly.

Unless you don’t agree with the golden rule. They’ve done unto us as they would have us do unto them. Someone has to be the passive, reactive participant.

In principle, yes. But McConnell has not yet sent over a procession of senators bearing tapers and a golden box containing the Rules for the Impeachment Trial of Donald John Trump, along with a group asking her for permission to use these rules for the trial. Pretty please!

Uh... no. Send the articles over then the senate will tell the House when they have decided on their course forward. It may be full dismissal in which case the House has no more to do. If it goes to a “trial” then the House simply sends whomever it chooses to represent them at the trial to present their case as prosecutors.

So simple even a dim dem can understand it.

Revenge can be really messy so be prepared to stay a while in the gray bar hotel (dems).

Nothing stops Democrats from appointing their managers and showing up for trial.

Unless they think their case stinks.

Lazamataz...just checking. Could Mitch actually do this? If so, then there’s no question...that’s what he should do. I’m just wanting to doublecheck whether this is a true option.

He’s fine with Pelosi’s Stalinist railroad job. I wonder how much he’d like it if he were the target of such maliciousness.

Look the Democrats voted for it and its their turd impeachment.

It makes no difference what they do. Trump is gonna walk.

Playing games with the articles of impeachment won’t change the outcome.

Unless they think their case stinks.

Well, in a real court it would go something like this.

Judge: Mr. Prosecutor, what are the charges?

Prosecutor: Abusing power and obstruction of Congress, Your Honor.

Judge: Those aren't crimes. Case dismissed!
