“Heres a conspiracy theory. Soleimani was set up by his own government and our people were informed that the weak rocket attack that followed would happen before he was even whacked.”
But why? If Iran wanted Soleimani did, they could have easily taken care of it themselves in some way, and then blamed it on The Jew (Israel), or something.
As to the fireworks show last night...yea, I can believe that Trump and the Mullahs had a talk (through a third party, like Canada) agreeing to it, as a way to reduce tension, by giving the Mullahs a way out. Trump’s very non-angry statement that no Americans were hurt and implying that the ‘attack’ didn’t even bother him, led me to that conclusion.
America gets rid of a terrorist, Iran gets to get rid of a thorn in their side and also saves face by launching a useless attack they claim took out a bunch of infidels.
I’m no expert but had read about this subject and theory. The information that I read suggested that the military would overthrow the theocratic government if they had done the killing themselves.
First of all, I do not believe the conspiracy that I posted is true. Its just a crazy thought that crossed my mind. I am generally skeptical of most conspiracy theories, but this is the sort of thing ones likely to read somewhere on the internet.
But what if there is a factional struggle in Iran, between hardliners and others more willing to pull back on meddling outside the countrys own borders. Or even an old fashioned power struggle between personalities and someone wanted the guy taken out but couldnt risk taking care of it himself?
