Virginia militia law may specify the age limits but doubt it prohibits older members. Active militia work is more than launching bullets with accuracy. We old guys could still be a force to be reckoned but some physical activity will grind you into the dirt and make you a liability.

I guarantee you a squad of pissed of militia men over 60 could set a trap that would inflict heavy damage on the enemy. Might not maneuver out of it intact but they would disrupt enemy ops for sometime.
