On the Bidens, Schiff Opened the Door
National Reviw ^ | January 22, 2020 | Andrew C. McCarthy

For an advocate, it is a coup when the judge rules that harmful testimony is excluded. But such rulings always come with a warning label: Don’t open the door. That is, don’t do anything that makes the otherwise irrelevant evidence relevant.

President Trump’s impeachment trial has a Biden door. Adam Schiff has thrown it wide open.

It seems to me that if the point of this exercise had been to protect Biden, then they would have just ignored it all. Frankly, the press has been busy ignoring Peter Schweizer's new book, "Profiles in Corruption." What impact would an announcement by the Ukranians have? Come on!

Instead, Joe Biden has been holed at the waterline by this whole fiasco and his campaign is sinking fast. The Democrats aren't protecting him one bit by focusing Republican attention on Hunter Biden, the White House machinations during the Obama administration to accomodate Biden or the ties between Ukraine and Hillary's Campaign that must come out as part of this process. SO WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS???

One obvious conclusion is that the Democrat establishment wants Biden out of the way. And, they want Bernie out of the way, "Nobody likes him".

The rational but unlikely outcome of this entire fiasco is that families of Federal Politicians will need to do financial disclosures just the same as the Politician's themselves. Yea right. But, between this and the Democrat antics in Virginia, one has to wonder how the party itself can survive. And, that answer is clearly only because of MSM efforts to prop this whole mess up as rational.

I personally have lots of friends that buy this whole thing as factual and spew the MSM talking points, and you can't even talk to them. I just avoid it and shake my head. Its time that we start investigating how delusion busting is done, effectively. But frankly, I think the President's lawyers are wrong. Trump should attend the Senate during the defense presentation to force the MSM to cover that.. and he should live tweet his commentary so that they can't turn away. The Senate forbids cameras except facing the speakers.. so it will drive the MSM nuts.

The telling point is “there is a book about it.” And yet not one arrest.

Lindsey Graham made a very provocative comment.

Pointing up stairs, he said of congress: “How many members of this body have children on the boards of foreign companies?”

Pelosi for sure.

Cruz was all over this as well. My take is Graham and Cruz are trying to dissuade Dems from going down the witness path by giving them a preview of what lie on the other side.

For those who, like me, are sick of this crap, this is the salient point that Andy is making:

“Not content to quote from President Trump’s actual call with President Zelensky of Ukraine, Schiff insisted on presenting a “parody” that, he maintained, conveyed the unspoken essence of Trump’s message: “I want you make up dirt on my political opponent, understand? Lots of it.””

...so Schiff says that Trump asked Ukraine to fabricate dirt...which, of course, was not the case. But now Trump’s side gets to DISPROVE Schiff’s claim, and that could easily mean having the Biden’s on the stand.

I think that the DNC is (privately) perfectly happy to sacrifice Biden, virtually all on it’s own merits, but in particular if it helps get Trump.

Biden is a boring, slow, gaff factory. I couldn’t carry Trumps jokstrap on the campaign trail, let alone stand on a stage with him. For it’s own sake, the DNC would love to diminish him, but because he is fully entrenched in their DC power circuit, with all of the democrat connections and the gravitas of a life-long career (swamp) creature, no one in the DNC would want to appear to be sabotaging him, let alone saying it right to his face.

If they could down Bernie too, then they would likely get their coveted female candidate, which they lost with last time, but which they feel they need for democraphic reasons (centrist suburban women, mainly) and they don’t have to worry about losing out because Bernie’s long and undeniable history of promoting socialism. There could be no turn to the middle with him after he gets nominated.

The biggest fear they have about losing Biden is Bernie. So they are starting to worry that they need to ditch Biden now and push Warren and Bloomberg.

I couldn’t either. I’d fail miserably as a politician. But that’s not what I was getting at. LOL

Grrrrrrrr. This is like saying, "We all know the truth. Let's avoid it."

That swamp is never going to get drained.

Sure seems that way. A huge den of Democrats all protecting each other.

“Democrat establishment wants Biden out of the way.”

I think that’s it. But if not him, then who? They don’t want Bernie, either. Hillary, I guess, appointed at the convention.

Honestly, I’d love to see Trump direct the FBI the day after he wins re-election to create a special task force to investigate the influence foreign companies and nations have on our elected officials through hiring of relatives of those officials.

Heck, the day after the Senate votes to acquit would also be appropriate.

In a national address: “American policy should not be influenced by the hiring of the children or relatives of American officials, both elected and appointed. Today I am directing the FBI to formally investigate the many many questionable payments to family members to rule out any corruption and I’m glad to know that everyone stands behind such a worthwhile and important investigation.”

“How many members of this body have children on the boards of foreign companies?”

On FR I’ve seen a graphic showing that there are at least four of the RATs who have kids in these positions.

I guess this is where I differ from you and others here, in that I DON'T have "lots of friends" who are, vote for, support, watch, root for, anything, FOR DIMOCRATS!! If they don't support or believe much as I do, support who I do, are Christian, conservative, like the military, are gun owners, Patriots to the core, etc. I just do not have liberal or dimocratic friends.

It is easy here where I live in Alabama, because there are none in my Church, neighborhood, on my street, etc. You don't see a lot of pro-dimocrat, pro-hillary, obammy signs. During the obammy years, during the elections, etc., I saw TWO yard signs for him. Then later, both signs disappeared!! Why, how, I don't know. Maybe their family told them they were crazy for having those in their yards. But, I just do not deal with them. I lived in Washington state for 15 years after I retired from the Army, waiting for my wife to retire from her job at Bank of America. THAT TIME was enough for me dealing with A-hole liberals!!!!!! THAT WAS ENOUGH!!! Once she retired, we were gone back here to my home in Alabama.

I was astonished by the breadth of the allegations in Schiff's "opening" statement. He threw the door open to the introduction of factual evidence on virtually everything that the democrats don't want discussed.

The "debunked Biden conspiracy" - well now Trump gets to introduced evidence that they had probable cause to pursue it and that it is far from debunked, in fact there is plenty of unrefuted evidence to believe that the conpsiracy and conflict of interest is alive and well and in fact true beyond a shadow of doubt in a relevant court of law where the Biden's are prosecuted for this criminal consipiracy.

“Possibly Bloomberg...”

“Mini Mike.” That’s a great nickname Trump came up with. Diminishing the size of an opponent like he did with Rubio makes people think “small person”. And ridicule always works (Alinsky).
