Mitt Romney 'formally not invited' to CPAC after impeachment vote on witnesses

The chairman of CPAC announced that Utah Sen. Mitt Romney is "formally not invited" to the conservative group's annual conference this year.

Matt Schlapp, the head of the American Conservative Union, said Romney is not allowed at the event after the Utah Republican voted in favor of summoning witnesses in the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump. Romney was one of two Republicans who joined 47 Democrats in supporting the motion, which failed to pass on Friday.

"BREAKING: The 'extreme conservative' and Junior Senator from the great state of Utah, @SenatorRomney is formally NOT invited to #CPAC2020," Schlapp wrote in a tweet, which featured a photo of a troubled-looking Romney.

— Matt Schlapp (@mschlapp) January 31, 2020 It is unclear whether Romney was expecting to attend this year's CPAC next month.

Romney recently slammed Trump's critical statements about former national security adviser John Bolton, whom Democratic House impeachment managers have fought to have as a witness. Bolton announced earlier this month he would testify if subpoenaed, and excerpts of his unpublished book have leaked to the press in recent days containing allegations of Trump pressuring Ukraine to help collect information on his political rivals.

“He has made a career of trashing people by tweet,” Romney told the New York Times. “It is part of his shtick, and it’s working for him."

This CPAC news comes after Utah state Republican Rep. Tim Quinn introduced a bill that would allow voters to recall a sitting U.S. senator. Quinn, 56, claimed the bill was unrelated to Romney but said it was a “good mechanism in place to make any senator, current or future, a little more accountable to those who elected him...

If it happens, Romney won’t win, and I don’t think it will happen. These days, when a candidate is nominated by a major party and loses the general election, he is NEVER given a second chance. The last candidate who got a second chance was Richard Nixon, in 1968.

With all of the major networks (including a growing number at FOX) and most of the print media putting out fake and false stories and articles about our President, I have no problem with President Trump responding in kind via twitter. The Democraps are particularly adept at labeling people who disagree with their party and tactics. I say this as a irredeemable deplorable tea bagger. President Trump tweets for me.

As long as he is bashing Rs, PDJT in particular, he will be able to claim discrimination and put on a crying jag because he was shunned...

I’ve had it with these self-serving buttheads.

Just about EVERY ‘gun control’ vote recently in Virginia, not one LIB crossed the line DESPITE the reaction of the citizens.

Guess you can’t expect much from radicals who spend millions on an 18 thou pa job.

Amazing how 20 or 30 votes have the exact same results.

Guarantee you can take the 50 of them out to eat and NO TWO of them will have the exact same meal other than “Give me exactly what he is getting” and then probably complain about something.

I hope voters in Alabama, WVA and Montana remember their “moderate” Democrat senators went with the extreme wing of the party today voting on the impeachment question of witnesses.

Trump's legal team laid out EXACTLY why the democrats so called peach-mint is an outrage, and EXTEMELY DANGEROUS to our country, Constitution, and even future presidents.

Anyone going along with it is traitor.

While this is expected from the criminal enterprise known as the democrat party, it is totally UNACCEPTABLE from anyone claiming to be Republican (or claiming to give sh*t about the nation.

He (Romey) has to be CORRUPT. No other explanation makes sense. Same goes for the other one.

Utah- find out what kind of malfeasance this dirtbag is involved in and get him out. Impeach/Recall whatever it takes- he is a fraud, and most likely linning his pockets at your expense.

I guess I would have voted for a dead dog than not vote against Obama. Bastards knew this. Same same with Bush. It was that or Gore. We should never ever allow that to happen again.
