Andrew Weissmann, one of the most prominent members of special counsel Robert Muellers team investigating Russia, let slip on Thursday that they were trying to get rid of President Trump, in part by laying a perjury trap to get him on record under oath.
Known as Muellers pitbull, Weissmann was heavily involved in the criminal case against Trumps former campaign manager Paul Manafort. He stepped down before Mueller released his final report and struck a deal with a publisher for a book about his experiences on the special counsel.
He would also sign with NBC and MSNBC as a legal analyst, and appeared Thursday afternoon on MSNBC to comment on President Trumps remarks earlier in the day on his acquittal by the U.S. Senate, where the president denounced the effort by political enemies to take him out.
Republican National Committee spokeswoman shared a video clip of the segment on Twitter, saying that Weissmann just admitted what we always knew.

Remember, in Democrat/Left circles his name is pronounced “Veissmann” with a heavy accent on the first syllable.
Disbarment and a prison sentence of no less than 20 years would too good for this jerk.
Yes, exactly right...
He has now been caught like a rat!!
Pitbulls everywhere are insulted.
I think it was Trump’s inclination to talk to Mueller since he’d done nothing wrong, but very wise to have accepted the advice not to.
“Known as Muellers pitbull, Weissmann”
A man without conscience? If so, I wonder how he will react when his time is up?
Everyone knew what they were trying to do. He’s not just admitting it publicly. He’s whining that our President refused to step into their trap.
We all knew it, they all knew it, they all know it, they will cover this up, not report it, or lie about it, or both.
They sure do a good job of burying what Weissman actually said, so we can see if he let something slip or not.
Reading Shocking! Bombshell! news reports anymore is like watching ten minutes of a bad infomercial.
Do ya hear that, Linda Gramnesty? Do ya hear that?
I’ll not hold my breath waiting on you to get this scum SOB under oath and probe him for the truth...
Hands up everyone who’s surprised.
Sidney Powell, General Michael Flynn’s sttorney, calls Weissmann “the poster boy for prosecutorial misconduct.” Weissmann earned that reputation long before he went to work for Mueller.
He didn’t let slip. He said it openly. He said “When Italy was trying to get rid of Berlosconi...”
I would enjoy about him getting his just reward in a carjacking gone wrong someday. By all accounts, close to 100,000 people lost their jobs because of his crimes. Several others were wrongfully imprisoned.
What goes around comes around.
It was obvious from the start.
As they knew immediately there was no basis for the investigation (indeed Weissmann knew before Mueller, who knew before he took the SC job), it seems to be that there must have been a criminal act in this entrapment attempt, which can serve no other purpose in an investigation already known to be a hoax.
I believe that the only thing that saved Donald was the fact that he hired Barr.
President Trump will be recognized as one of America's greatest heroes and as one of the greatest Presidents in US history by general concurrence, as America's greatest President by most.
The greatness of Harry Truman was recognized by most people only many years after he left office.
The greatness of President Trump is already recognized by millions of people. As time passes, more and more will recognize it. Eventually, even the most obdurate will be forced to acknowledge it.
America has been in a very dark place. She is emerging into the light. Truth will illuminate the USA.
This is exactly why Trump’s lawyers strongly advised him not to testify.
I give up. Wont see justice till Judgement Day.
Perjury traps seem to be what the FBI is all about these days.
I would like to see the technique either abandoned or used on prominent democrats for at least a year or two.
