I’ve never visited the Pacific coast. But I’ve read enough about the history to recognize what a land of opportunity this region was for the rest of the nation — particularly the incredible bounty of its agriculture.
I read about what’s happening today and I get a pain in the pit of my stomach.

Sausalito arts

Great food
But we won’t go back

It is a crime what has happened in 20 years.
We escaped this year. We are so happy that we did.
I finally got my 80+ YO parents to leave. So thankful they are out of there.
It is great to be out of there after 30 years in the once Golden State, retired in Jan 2019 happy memories but was glad to see it in my rear view mirror. Funny side note, as I crossed over the Colorado River into AZ after about 10 minutes the song on the radio was Hotel California, it cracked me up. Moved home to Texas and it is great to be away, paying the same rent in Ft Worth as I was in San Diego 25 years ago.

... he conveniently forgets that the Once-Golden State is succeeding because hi tech clients, US and worldwide, are the beneficiaries of the Trump economy; and, they are buying a tonne of Cali-based tech.
Many of these companies, one suspects, are planning their exit to Texas or another "red" state asap.
He also conveniently forgets that middle class peeps are struggling among Newsom's elite buddies..
