Egypt versus Turkey

The current feud between Egypt/Turkey has caused many to draw comparisons between how the two states conduct their policies in the ever-turbulent region of the ME

In its response to Turkey’s provocative practices, Egypt has maintained a policy of resilience and followed the guidelines of international law while at the same time showing a firm stance towards the acts of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Erdogan has deliberately and repeatedly insulted Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi at forums and in speeches using ad hominem tactics. From the way Erdogan has described him, it might have been thought that Al-Sisi was standing for election in Ankara and not in Cairo. By contrast, Al-Sisi has refrained from even mentioning Erdogan in any forum or statement. “I only deal with politicians, not with actors,” he might have been imagined as thinking.

Turkey’s propaganda apparatus has filled the airwaves with noise about alleged human-rights abuses & lack of freedom of speech in Egypt – ironic, when one considers that Turkey is ranked as on of 3 worst countries in the world by Index of Press Freedom and worst in the world in terms of number of detained journalists. The Egyptian leadership has highlighted the fact that human rights are not confined simply to freedom of speech and the freedom of the press but also include welfare, security, proper housing and decent employment.

Erdogan has been labelled as “foolish” by US President Donald Trump in open letters more than once. US administration has often saluted president of Egypt, describing him as “a brave leader” who is given a massive welcome on every visit to Washington.

Turkey has been accused, with irrefutable proof, by many countries of harbouring terrorists and trading stolen oil with the Islamic State (IS) group. Erdogan’s own son has been mentioned as being involved in such suspicious deals.

Egypt is lead by an honorable man. And a statesman.

Turkey is lead by a Dictator who has destroyed all meaning of the Law in Turkey and supports ISIS and other similar vermin to expand Turkey by conquest. And wants us to believe he is doing it in self defense.

Erdoo is Evil.

I watched as Obama helped Morsi and the Muslim Brootherhood Terrorists take power in Egypt. I had friends who were working hard to expose their crimes to the world. I helped that perspective become more aware here in the US.

Friends of mine were supporters of Sisi from the beginning. When he was given the order to shot the mass demonstrators in the streets of Cairo and other cities, he refused and arrested Morsi and the Leadership of the Muslim brotherhood. They are still in Jail.

Egyptians Love, now President, Sisi.

Erdoo has supported the Muslim Brotherhood since the early days of Obama. Turkey is the only place in the world that embraces, funds, protects and arms the remainder of ISIS.

Erdoo is Evil.

My friends there are so very thankful for him. They are a poor country. Not blessed with oil, but they have many people and an ancient civilization.

Some very smart people. Egypt rebuilt a number of the Christian Churches that were destroyed by the Muslim Brotherhood crazies.

I’ve never met him, but am impressed by his nature and his manner. He is from the same region as Sadat.

Egyptians are not Arabs. But many are Muslim. Most of them accept Christians with no issues. The exception is the Islamists.

I have both Christian and Muslim friends in Cairo and in other parts of Egypt.
