Iran seeks compromise from Europe on nuclear deal

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said there was room for maneuver in reimposing the 2015 agreement that kept Tehran from developing nuclear weapons. But he added it would only happen if Germany, France and the UK showed the same willingness to reinstate the deal’s economic benefits for Iran.

The landmark agreement has been on life support ever since US President Donald Trump withdrew from it in 2018 and reimposed economic sanctions on Tehran, leaving Germany, France and the UK struggling to breathe life into the ailing deal. […]

“We have said that we are prepared to slow down or reverse these measures commensurate with what Europe does,” he said at the annual meeting in Munich.

“We will decide whether what Europe does is sufficient to slow down or to reverse some steps — we have not even ruled out reversing some of the steps that we have taken,” he added. “We’re not talking about charity. We’re talking about Iranian rights and the rights of the Iranian people to receive the economic benefits.” …

Trying to make extortion sound reasonable just means they haven’t changed one bit.

I believe the Iranians are beginning to see the writing on the wall. The president will be re elected and they will not be able to put up with another 4 yrs of strangulation by an unrelenting foe such as the Maga Man.

I think the EU should help grab by giving them a couple of nukes, delivered by air under their own power.

I believe the Iranians are beginning to see the writing on the wall.

Their economy is dying a slow, painful death. They have little bargaining power here, but I certainly don't trust Europe to take advantage of a strong hand. Europe has a straight flush, but will fold to Iran's pair of deuces.

As much as the leftists in the EU complain about the use military force, here they are rejecting the use of economic force. The EU, UN and other international bodies have ALWAYS pushed for sanctions over kinetic action. They finally have an anti-war US President, and they refuse to support him. In reality, it isn't American military force they are opposed to, or American sanctions, it's American Greatness, American Success and American Independence.

Not much new here, it's merely Iran's reiteration that it's open for extortion. One notes the insistence that Europe move first and then the Iranians may consider slowing down their programs. Also notable is the absence of the customary blood-curdling threats against the United States. Hmm, wonder why?

That treasonous bastard Kerry is over there encouraging the EU to stab us in the back. I am convinced he told Iran to bide their time and Trump will be gone. It is high time the little prick got what he deserved.

It’s called jealousy. It’s represented by a deep seated feeling by the Euroweenies of hatred at being made to look foolish by someone they mocked and derided and who know has made them look absolutely foolish and inept.

Umm, if it actually did that there would be no issue, you lying sack.

How about we lift sanctions and if we find you enriching even bread we blow the shit out of your country.

They don’t have one at all.

Thus they coo about their “soft” power. The soft part is right. But they have no power at all.
