Nobody appears to be more concerned about climate change than Democratic presidential front-runner Bernie Sanders, student activist Greta Thunberg, and the thousands of Extinction Rebellion activists who shut down London last year.
Last year, Sanders called climate change “an existential threat.” Extinction Rebellion said, “Billions will die.” And Thunberg said, “I don’t want you to be hopeful” about climate change, “I want you to panic.”
But if Sanders, Thunberg, and Extinction Rebellion are so alarmed about carbon emissions, why are they fighting to halt the use of two technologies, fracking and nuclear, that are most responsible for reducing them?
Sanders says he would ban both natural gas and nuclear energy, Thunberg says she opposes nuclear energy, and Extinction Rebellion’s spokesperson said in a debate with me on BBC that she opposes natural gas.
And yet, emissions are declining thanks to the higher use of nuclear energy and natural gas. Carbon emissions have been declining in developed nations for the last decade. In Europe, emissions in 2018 were 23% below 1990 levels. In the U.S., emissions fell 15 percent from 2005 to 2016.
Do Sanders, Thunberg, Extinction Rebellion and other apocalyptic greens really believe that, by raising the alarm about the end of the world, they will persuade societies to choose the low-energy path?
Perhaps. But they may also fear, consciously or unconsciously, that the outsized role played by natural gas and nuclear means that climate apocalypse can be averted without any of the radical societal transformations they demand. After all, if nations were to simply use natural gas to transition to nuclear, there would be little need to stop traffic in London, moralize about the virtues of foregoing meat, flying, and driving, or deploy renewables.

The environment is not the point!
Because if they solve it (which can't be done, because there is no threat) they will have to find a new reason to implement their socialists schemes. Democrats/socialists never solve problems. It's called job security, due to the fact that 50% of Americans have below average intelligence and will believe anything a Rat says.

1960s-1990s: Liberal establishment promotes population control to address overpopulation “crisis”.
1990s - Present: Liberal establishment promotes population control to address climate “crisis”.
Lesson: the “crisis” du jour is not the crisis the liberal establishment is trying to solve.
Their vision for the future has us living a short, preindustrial, hand to mouth, subsistence lifestyle with them sitting in their climate controlled ivory tower, riding herd on us and indulging themselves. Kind of like the Hunger Games.
Or better yet, the Rocky Mountains, or the Sierra Nevada's?
More importantly, who on this planet can "solve climate change?"
Our climate has always changed. Since the beginning. Billions of years of constant change.
In fact, our universe is in constant change.
When someone brings up "climate change", ask them why they think our climate should be static and how that could even be achieved.
Besides that is.
And likewise why are they for mass immigration from the 3rd world to 1st.
Trump could abolish the EPA and it wouldn’t cause 1/100th the environmental damage the flood of 3rd worlders Sanders,Baffoonberg etc open borders policies will cause.
the climate change people are a people who do not believe in God. They have taken the roll of absolute control over the world and the people... and believe only THEY have what it takes to save the planet... foolish as it is!.
Believing in God and His Universe.. He did create it and He is the Protector and He must look at the climate change people as those clinging to their beliefs that THEY can save this nation while jetting here and there on their private jets.
Climate changers are mere men/women, who can do nothing but take a foolish stand that profits those at the top and so their goal is a success..

Biden unveiled a bold $1.7-trillion plan... Bloomberg... does not advocate for a ban on fracking... Buttigieg... takes a more measured approach... Sanders prides himself on advancing the most far-reaching and aggressive plans...How do Democratic candidates plan to combat climate change?
Because they’re global socialist watermelons.
They are opposed to any practical market based means of reducing carbon emissions. Psssst....they’re not really concerned about carbon emissions. Know how we know?
Firstly they are against Nuclear which has zero emissions.
Secondly they are against fracking which produces lots of natural gas which produces far less carbon than Coal.
Third they don’t campaign against the the largest emitter on the planet - China - nor do they say anything about top 5 and quickly growing emitter, India.
They don’t even go to the middle east which has high carbon emissions due to all the petroleum it produces.
They spew all their piss and vinegar at the West which has been steadily reducing carbon emissions. Gosh....why would somebody do that if they were really concerned about carbon emissions? Isn’t a ton of carbon pumped into the atmosphere in Hunan just as damaging as a ton of carbon pumped into the atmosphere if Kansas?
Great point! I forgot to add that one. They are in favor of mass migration of people from the 3rd world who are living low carbon lifestyles to Europe and America where they will adopt a much higher carbon lifestyle.
Its not about the carbon emissions.
