Stone judge under pressure over calls for new trial

The judge in Roger Stone's case is under pressure as she considers whether to grant President Trump's longtime associate a new trial based on allegations of juror bias.

U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson, an Obama appointee whose ruling is expected soon, is facing a concerted campaign from Trump and his media allies who claim that Stone’s case was prejudiced by politics.

This new chapter in Stone’s legal saga concerns whether the jury forewoman’s failure to disclose her opposition to Trump tainted Stone’s guilty verdict. Stone's lawyers say that entitles the 67-year-old right-wing provocateur to a fresh trial.

Jackson held a hearing on Stone’s motion for a new trial on Tuesday, in which she limited public access to protect the privacy of the jurors. But even as Jackson conducted the hearing, Trump again took to Twitter to weigh in on the proceedings.

While it's not a done deal (and I don't expect it will be) the public spotlight and pressure must be working. They're at least going through the motions of pretending to review this case.

Yes, she needs to NOT be the presiding judge if a re-trial occurs.

Barr could stop this farce tomorrow before breakfast if he wanted to.

I'm sure his attorney's used this type of language.

Stone's lawyers say that entitles the 67-year-old right-wing provocateur
to a fresh trial.

So sick of the bias.

Yeah like an Obama appointed judge gives a flying crap what Trumpers think. Time to reign in these assholes, and fine them heavily for violating basic civil rights. They are appointed for life, but theres nothing that saying their saleries can be docked. Hit them were their political beliefs can help them, affording to live. Of course, if it gets too bad, they can always resign.

I would love to know how he could do this. This case is completely in the hands of the judge for the moment. She has the authority to decide on the motions that are in front of her and can decide when and if Mr. Stone goes to prison. She is a Federal District Court Judge, a member of the Judiciary and Mr. Barr has no authority over her or of the case.

Of course, Stone can appeal, but again it is in the hands of the Judiciary, not the Justice Department. The only person who can do anything outside the Judiciary is the President, who can pardon or commute at his discretion.

I agree but it's interesting this hasn't been settled yet. Normally a case like this would be closed and forgotten. Someone is keeping this case alive and causing problems for the people who want it closed.

A small glimmer of hope but yeah, I don't believe protests are ultimately going to matter.

The purpose of this article is to advance the notion that the misconduct of the juror must be ignored because the President made a comment on this behavior. Did the judge issue a gag order to the President of the United States as she did to Roger Stone? I doubt that she has the authority to do that, but apparently the press and the Democrat Party believe that they can do so.

That ship sailed weeks ago while Barr was playing the bagpipes.

Stone has been convicted and sentenced.

“I would love to know how he could do this.”

He could join the defense motion to grant a new trial.

That’s how.

.

If that woman is fit to be a Judge, I’m fit to be a Sensitivity Counselor.

Unfit. She only had to hear Trump, and she got out the rope.

He only is - because the judge ignored the Juror’s lies and agenda.

The Judge kept going forward - why?

Then the Judge made false public statements.

Barr doesn’t want to do anything.

“I would love to know how he could do this’

I think a civil rights violation could be entered therefore the feds could enter the picture
A review of why armed [gestapo type] tactics were used to arrest him and the gag order can be questioned as to why it is being used

He could also beseech the tooth fairy to intervene with the judge, but I doubt that the Attorney General of the United States won’t do either.

The entire jury, that is no longer a jury, were tainted and she is trying to keep them hidden so the truth can't come out. Criminal setup.

“He could also beseech the tooth fairy to intervene with the judge..”

Yea, he could do that. He could also do as I said and publicly join the motion for a new trial that the defense has before the Court. She may not grant it, that’s certainly in her power, but my point still stands.

This entire prosecution stinks from start to finish and Barr either knows it and is complicit or he doesn’t know it and he’s incompetent.

There are no other logical choices unless of course you subscribe to the lunatic ravings of the Qballs.

Judge Beryl Howell either knows she is lying or she needs to pull her head out. Amy Jackson is a died in the wool partisan every bit as much as Bernie is an admitted and proud commie.

The American People, at least those that voted for Trump, have very little faith in Federal Judges or the DOJ or the FBI. Period and no one is moving to do a damn thing about it.

Lefties judges have been ruling against Trump for 3 years. They don’t care nor are influence by what Trump thinks.
