I would love to know how he could do this. This case is completely in the hands of the judge for the moment. She has the authority to decide on the motions that are in front of her and can decide when and if Mr. Stone goes to prison. She is a Federal District Court Judge, a member of the Judiciary and Mr. Barr has no authority over her or of the case.
Of course, Stone can appeal, but again it is in the hands of the Judiciary, not the Justice Department. The only person who can do anything outside the Judiciary is the President, who can pardon or commute at his discretion.
I would love to know how he could do this.
He could join the defense motion to grant a new trial.
Thats how.

The new prosecutors could petition the court to throw this out, dismiss it with prejudice. They could refer charges and disciplinary action against the resigned prosecutors. They should do both. That should be within Barr’s authority.
