Evolutionist Admits Darwin’s Connection to Racism

February 26, 2020 | Jerry Bergman

Finally, Some Honesty about Darwin’s Direct Connection to Racism: One AAAS Scientist Admits Evolution’s Sordid Past

by Jerry Bergman, PhD

Although often ignored, some science organizations that embrace evolution acknowledge the close causative connection between Darwinism and racism.

""...Despite some inaccuracies and fierce opposition, Darwin’s blend of novel hypotheses … and good rhetoric transformed the scientific world within a few decades. By the late-nineteenth century …scientific racism that had made polygenism so popular was soon drawing people to a new cause: eugenics.""

So says John P. Slattery, Ph.D., a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS, the most prestigious science body in the U.S.). In his essay this month in Commonweal, he admits that—despite its recent improvement in the area of race—the record of Darwinian

""...science has not always aligned so well with modern values of equality and the common good. The history of science includes not only racial hierarchies, but also Western cultural supremacy, [and] the militarization of scientific knowledge.[1]""

You can’t blame Darwin for any of the bad science that followed any more than you can blame Thomas Edison when you stick your finger in a light socket.

The world would be much better off if we shielded our young people from knowledge of the natural world. It too often gives them ideas.

He claimed to be a Christian in his youth, but when he learned about evolution, as so often happens to impressionable students, he jettisoned his belief in God and became a militant atheist.

No amount of faith or spiritual counseling could possibly overcome learning about evolution.

How in the world could anyone deny Darwin’s connection to racism? His book was entitled: “On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection: Or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life.”

Charles Darwin on Africans

”Since the dawn of history the Negro has owned the continent of Africa – rich beyond the dream of poet’s fancy, crunching acres of diamonds beneath his bare black feet and yet he never picked one up from the dust until a white man showed to him its glittering light.

His land swarmed with powerful and docile animals, yet he never dreamed a harness, cart, or sled.

A hunter by necessity, he never made an axe, spear, or arrowhead worth preserving beyond the moment of its use. He lived as an ox, content to graze for an hour.

In a land of stone and timber he never sawed a foot of lumber, carved a block, or built a house save of broken sticks and mud.

With league on league of ocean strand and miles of inland seas, for four thousand years he watched their surface ripple under the wind, heard the thunder of the surf on his beach, the howl of the storm over his head, gazed on the dim blue horizon calling him to worlds that lie beyond, and yet he never dreamed a sail.”

Thank you!

Whenever Darwin is criticized on FR, there is a certain derangement syndrome that takes hold on many brains here.

What is now called racism was once known as science.

Darwin was simply a man of his time. That is how most Europeans saw Africans back in that day.

This is kinda fun, though. This may make liberal heads explode and cause campaigns to take down any statues or paintings of this "racist"!

“Favoured Races” in this context means favored by nature, not man. And the world was not such a politically correct maelstrom then that the word “race” only meant skin color.

There’s never been a racist evolution denier, either.

Charles Darwin on Africans

Thomas Jefferson on Blacks:

“It appears to me that in memory they are equal to whites; in reason, inferior.”

And... “blacks, whether originally a distinct race, or made distinct by time and circumstances, are inferior to the whites in the endowments of both body and the mind.”

So, should we round file the Declaration of Independence and cash in the Republic?

Liberated dude!

His research interests lie mainly in historical and systematic interactions between Christian theology, black liberation theology, and the ecological and evolutionary sciences. He finds much strength in the theological value of liberation-related theological writings,

I believe they have recently determined it was not TJ but a blood relative that fathered the mixed race offspring.

John P. Slattery!

Racist, Trump-hating Liar!

-——————————————————Quote-—————

Nine months ago, as if in response to the groundswell, this nation of immigrants, descendents of slaves, descendents of those that owned slaves, and descendents of the aboriginal tribes voted a man into office with clear ties to neo-Nazi and other racist groups. Catholics and Protestants together voted him into office. Mostly white people. Mostly men.

Slattery

Three years and six days ago, an unarmed young black man named Michael Brown was shot and killed by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. In the aftermath of the unrest that followed the criminal act of injustice on the part of the police department, the United States has seen the largest groundswell of anti-racist sentiment in the last few decades under the guise of #BlackLivesMatter and similar movements.
