South Carolina lawmakers proposed a bill Wednesday that would require transgender high school athletes to compete on teams with the gender they were assigned at birth — and not the gender they identify with. .
LGBTQ advocates were quick to speak out against the legislation brought forward Wednesday, with South Carolina-based SC Equality saying the policy “creates a dangerous situation for South Carolina’s LGBTQ children, causing them to worry about their safety, wellbeing, and inclusion at school and in the community” in a statement obtained by McClatchy News.
Representatives said the bill, the “Save Women’s Sports Act,” is meant to maintain a level playing field for high school girl’s sports in particular by keeping transgender girls out of the game, according to WYFF.
Regardless of how a student identifies, or what steps they have taken toward transitioning, proponents of the “Save Women’s Sports Act,” argue that playing on a girl’s high school team after transitioning from male to female comes with physical advantages that aren’t fair for their other female competitors.
“Hormonal treatment is not going to change somebody’s bone structure,” state Sen. Richard Cash of Anderson County told WYFF. “It’s not gonna allow a young woman to be able to run as fast or jump as high as a young man.”
Jeff Ayers, executive director of SC Equality, pushed back against that argument.
“To date there has been absolutely no evidence that transgender student-athletes in South Carolina pose any serious danger to any sport in which they participate.” said Ayers. “This bill is at its core an attempt to invalidate transgender student identity within our schools. We stand in firm opposition to this bill, and any other proposed law of this type.”
The “Save Women’s Sports Act,” is being pursued in statehouses across the country, and passed through the Arizona House on Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.
This legislation should require a DNA test of all athletes who want to compete. DNA is forever and cannot be changed.

Has anyone been abusing this the other way? That is, women “transitioning to male,” taking testosterone? Do any of them still compete in women’s sports as women?
These writers need to stop saying LGBTQ. This is an issue of one part of the community. LGB and Q have divergent views on the T and whether there should be participation in sports based on birth sex assignment rather than asserted gender

Good. Get it in court, lose, appeal, and get this up to SCOTUS as quickly as possible so we can put this garbage behind us.
Maybe the Democrats could get a transgender to run for President..it would be the first women President..
How parents of girls in sports are not going to these schools with pitch forks is beyond me..
It will fail or be overturned. No one wants to be called transphobic.
If people are not willing to stand up against this, for fear of being labeled “transphobic”, what will they do when opposing adult-child sex gets called pedophobic?
It’s because the fear of the left is a very strong fear in our society nowadays.
The fear of being called a deplorable homophobic xenophobic Islamophobic transphobic, cowers and intimidates people.
The fear that the demons on the left will target you personally, get you fired from a job, boycott your business, etc. is a very strong fear.

Ah, yes. The old “safe space” argument. Why is it that only liberals are allowed to make that argument? I don’t want my daughter to share a restroom - or a locker room - with some transsexual male.
Why doesn’t my daughter deserve a safe space?
Why would competing with your biological peers be a safety issue?
It wouldn’t.
The liberal view on that, is that your daughter is supposed to be “tolerant”, and that as a heterosexual female, she is not as oppressed as the alphabet of LGBT peoples. Liberals are very big on ranking who is more oppressed than whom.
You need to go back and watch the Dave Chappelle comedy show from six months ago. He explained the ‘car sequence’ with LGTBQ folks, and made perfect sense why only two of the ‘letters’ fit in the ‘car’.

That’s the key point right there. And I’m just waiting for some Muslim-American girl to object to having some hairy transsexual male in her locker room.
That would be the fight of the century. At this point I don’t know who I’d bet on.

Very good point(s).
We already have evidence Muslims outrank standard run-of-the-mill gays. (As seen by media coverage of proud to be gay parade, after the parade turned the wrong corner venturing into Muslim neighborhood and got the crap beat out of them. Media was hamstrung on taking up for the gays.)
The should call it the Female Sports Protection Bill of 2020.
