CDC Has Known Since 2005 Chloroquine Was Very Effective Against Coronavirus In Lab Studies

According to CDC, people around the world commonly get infected with human coronaviruses 229E, NL63, OC43, and HKU1. Sometimes coronaviruses that infect animals can evolve and make people sick and become a new human coronavirus. Three recent examples of this are 2019-nCoV, SARS-CoV, and MERS-CoV.

Coronavirus treatment

With coronavirus pandemic claiming over 10,000 lives with at least 250,000 reported cases, the race to find treatment for people already infected with coronavirus became critical. The good news came on March 16, when a new academic study by a group of researchers, in consultation with Stanford University School of Medicine, UAB School of Medicine, and National Academy of Sciences researchers, found that over the counter anti-malaria pills Chloroquine may be highly effective at treating coronavirus COVID-19. Chloroquine works by enabling the body’s cells better to absorb zinc, which is key in preventing viral RNA transcription – and disrupting the often fatal cytokine storm.

However, the good news was short lived after FDA came out saying chloroquine has not yet been approved to treat  coronavirus patients until sufficient data about the safety and effectiveness of chloroquine is available. Now, a new unearthed paper published in 2005 and shared with CDC, found that “Chloroquine is effective in preventing the spread of SARS CoV in cell culture.”

The study published in Virology Journal titled ‘Chloroquine is a potent inhibitor of SARS coronavirus infection and spread,” found that “Chloroquine, a relatively safe, effective and cheap drug used for treating many human diseases including malaria, amoebiosis and human immunodeficiency virus is effective in inhibiting the infection and spread of SARS CoV in cell culture. The fact that the drug has significant inhibitory antiviral effect when the susceptible cells were treated either prior to or after infection suggests a possible prophylactic and therapeutic use.”

Below is the abstract of their findings.

The CDC has known since 2005 that lab results on hydroxychloroquine indicated it was not only a very effective treatment for Coronavirus, but also would prevent people from contracting the SARS virus. Even with that knowledge, no randomized double blind studies we're ever conducted to verify its efficacy. NOW they are necessary?

Apparently the CDC does not believe that widespread testing would be useful for understanding and controlling the current pandemic.

[But gunz]

Trump should fire them all.

If this is accurate, this is what Congressional Hearings are meant for, not Bogus Russian collusion crap.

"Known" is a strong word. Some of them may have known about it at one time, but institutionally they have forgotten.

It’s gonna be all about the money in the long run. This cheap med is destined for greatness along with a sh**load of money. Remember...price gouging is a crime.

2005, it’s only 15 years and I’ll bet they are real close to determining the efficacy.

“In cell culture”. To bad we don’t have an epidemic of cells.

Imagine if it was meant only to be used by the elites and ‘dummy Trump’ let the secret out of the bag. Hence the executive orders by Dem Governors.

Read the original paper. Their contention is they proved the virus has trouble entering cells treated in advance with the drug. That is never going to be the case clinically EXCEPT in people who were taking it prior to exposure. We now have ten days of people who were taking it after they were ill and all the people who were seriulsy ill or dead who were taking it prior. With a computer and access I could write this paper in a half hour. Where is it? It is hiding because somebody is still sitting on two tons of drug they are going to have to eat when people discover it doesn’t work.

yes BUT more money is to be made, and more people to die
predictably, when hydrochloroquine is forbidden
and vaccines are imposed
($1 vs $4000 each year per person).

Translation = in 2009 16,000 H1N1 patients died just in the USA when many, maybe most didn’t need to. Has the Kenyan or Joe Dimentia been asked for comment yet? How about dear Dr. Fauci? Can you say COVER UP?

And all the reports from doctors who have had success treating the infected with it?

No surprise. They are researchers not clinicians

If they cared about people they would be seeing patients not data

wouldnt this lead credence to using it as a preventative...(not that they should until much more research is done)

There are different strains of coronavirus. A medication that treats disease caused by one strain does not automatically work on treating disease caused by another. That’s why clinical trials are necessary. Those trials are going on right now. It takes time for this to be done properly because patients have to respond to medication.

Most people will have mild symptons if infected and recover naturally, if they are also taking this wonder drug (malaria is a parasitic disease, not a virus) it is considered a “cure” by the drug.

well Nevada’s Gov. volunteered Nevada as the control group. So we have our test now.

I understand quite well there are different strains, in fact, a study out of Iceland says they have identified 40 different strains.

That is irrelevant, if you read the abstract, what they have determined and what is known about hydroxychloroquine, is that is an ionophore that allows zinc ions to more easily enter the cell and stop the virus from replicating. It interferes with the virus’s ability to hijack the RNA sequencing mechanism of the cell to replicate itself, regardless of the strain.

Are you forgetting that during an active infection the virus is still trying to replicate and invade new cells? If you prevent the virus from invading new cells then, even though you are infected, the virus can no longer replicate and you get over the disease.
