Payback time for those, who accepted a regular commission...
For 6 years (active and reserve) in the Navy, with a college degree, about once a month,I would be asked to become and officer.
Fortunately, an older cousin had told me,”Don’t do it! Stay enlisted!”.
Then, when the Korean War broke out, a lot of officers were called back on active duty. Some never made it back home.

The key word in the order. IRR is not subject to this order. Plus any military member who has fulfilled his 8 year obligation has no duty to report, unless things have changed.
I spent 10 years active duty plus 1 year active reserve and was told I had no further obligation. Let them try to call me up at 70 years old. That said, call me up for Individual Militia Duty, and I will volunteer as cannon fodder, depending on the issue.
I'm not debating if this is a good idea, just trying to understand how the Ready (active) Reserves and the IRR now work.
Yep some of us ol’ coots don’t have to worry about reporting now.
I spent a couple year active and the remainder on inactive until
final release.

At 70, you’re pretty safe. If they really need something you have, I’m sure they’ll ask and you’ll respond. Doubt it involves a combat situation.

I’m 71, retired USAR warrant officer. `Individual Militia Duty’? Sounds like WWII era Home Guard to me.
There’s a mosque near my AO that needs guarding. A pistol in my pocket makes more sense than an M-4 though I can still shoot expert with the latter.
Callup over 70 most likely means retired Med Corps physicians.
My Rating was ABF flight deck personnel. Highly doubt they would want an old Swabbi, but I am still in shape. I just can’t remember at what length of service and age, you’ve fulfilled your duty - not that patriotic duty is ever done in my mind.
