President Trump says he has committed to American farmers to continue admitting large numbers of H-2A foreign visa workers to take agricultural jobs, even as jobless claims are set to climb above 3.3 million in the midst of the Chinese coronavirus crisis.
During a press briefing on Wednesday, Trump suggested United States farms would not survive without a continuous flow of H-2A foreign visa workers who are brought to the country by farmers. There is no limit to how many H-2A foreign visa workers can be admitted to the U.S.

Migrants-Doing the slave labor Americans won't.
Drivel......... your comment is balderdascious drivel
Hardly the time or the place for this.
If we make welfare less lucrative than work, we’ll have enough laborers.
Trump picked the firmer head of Indian Outsourcing firm for DHS ?
Did Trump benefit from these visas at your hotels and resorts too ?....
So much for America First .
As we face record unemployment Trump and His DHS guy
push foreigners in American jobs .
Good luck getting reelected .
Farmers say they “can’t” get workers. But what if you “farmed out” that recruiting job to a go-getter? I think American workers can be found - it just takes effort.
Bert the ostrich strikes again
I don’t think so. Migrants have been coming from Mexico to Michigan since at least as the late-1950’s to work the farms, especially the cherry orchards. But my understanding then was they were coming in the spring and going back and the end of harvest.
As is always common among many conservatives, you are deserting the cause for lack of perceived purity by people who disagree with you
Shame on you
Continue slave labor in IT sector via h1bs, continue importing indians and give them green cards.Make more billions for tech companies and MAGA.
Keep building democrat majorities. Great going trump.
So while we’re all sitting idle sheltering in place for fear of the GREAT VIRUS, Central Americans and Caribbean Islanders will drive or fly into the country and harvest our crops for us for a pittance.
If we make welfare less lucrative than work, well have enough laborers.
Current recipients of which, fortunately, havent seen a pay cut yet due to the current crackdown.
Farms could/would have improved their work and pay conditions by now had we not been feeding them cheap imported labor for decades. What’s worse, of course, is we’ve spread it to the rest of farming (and most labor) in the US.
They all need to go home. We need to adjust the economy to our workers and supply and demand.
But I give Trump a one-time pass on this right now, since he is fighting the push to crash us to an economic apocalypse—and we don’t need our domestic food supply disrupted right now.
Id be happy to oay more for a salad then f I knew that the natives were harvesting it. Farmers have a wage problem disguised as a labor shortage.
Unemployed American College Educaed Socialists and Communists should be sent to the collective’s as service on the front lines of the revolution is mandatory....
That’s also when cars are found on blocks after their tires are stolen. Every year in my farm community it was the same thing in Ohio.
Yup. Its money and profits first; everything else is secondary, like crime, jobs, social cohesion, etc, etc.
I lived in a small farming town where the population more than doubled at watermelon harvest time. It's brutal.
In a conversation with 2 farmers:
Farmer 1:"Do you think these hands smoke marijuana?"
Farmer 2: "Gawd,I hope so."
