I’d be happy to oay more for a salad then f I knew that the natives were harvesting it. Farmers have a wage problem disguised as a labor shortage.

It’s more than just wages. The seasonal nature of the agricultural sector plays a much bigger role than most people may realize. I see the same thing in the construction trades. I have a few guys in my circle of friends who gave up their careers as electricians and telecom installation specialists because they couldn’t deal with the cyclical nature of the work. You probably couldn’t get them back even for $500/hour.
