One fascinating thing about COVID-19 is how its turned every leftist theory and belief system upside down. All the things leftists have advocated have only made us more vulnerable to epidemic disease. Now, in a supreme irony, theres a possibility that one of the things they most hate tobacco may ride to the rescue.
COVID-19, in many ways, may prove to be the undoing of leftism. Heres a short list of all the leftist ideas that are taking a beating thanks to the pandemic:
Globalism: It turns out that interconnectedness is dangerous and that international organizations, such as WHO, are intellectually corrupt and in thrall to totalitarian governments.

Lucky me, snus!
The good news is that you will be immune to coronavirus; the bad news is that you will develop a three pack a day craving for unfiltered Chesterfields.
Hmmm... started by a bat and cured by BAT?
Here’s another irony:
British American Tobacco (BAT) .............................
Time to bring back their old slogan...
“Lucky Strike Has Gone to War... against COVID-19.”
Seriously, if BAT’s Kentucky research arm can come up with a tobacco-based vaccine that works, then why the hell not?
Interesting.
I would love to see Connecticut Valley Tobacco make a comeback. Had a friend who family grew shade grown tobacco. What a job - hard but fun! The leftist would hate that I touched tobacco at 10... by harvesting it.
No more ironic than marijuana being medically beneficial. There are many plants that have both harmful and beneficial effects.
NOT by smoking it. :-)
********
But, if the vaccine is in the leaf, then by smoking that leaf I’m getting me some o’ that vaccine!
Not many people realize that Connecticut is (was) a big state for tobacco production. I used to travel to Windsor, CT a lot for my job and I liked taking the back roads to see all the tobacco fields that were around there.
They call it "shade" tobacco.
They still make some of the best cigar wrappers for quality sticks
I smoked Reds from 1971-1992
Weaned myself on a month long sail voyage
Didnt pick em back up
I can help anyone quit if they are willing to be locked up
Staying quit is the key
Smoking cigarettes represents a risk factor for getting a severe Covid 19 infection. God gave us tobacco plants for some reason, but I doubt it was to smoke or otherwise develop nicotine addictions.
“Still smoking ½ to ¾ pack of Marlboros per day, after 53yrs. Doing my part... “
So was I, right up to the point I , out of the blue, suffered a stroke.
Let me tell ya, THAT will get your attention! The Hosp stay and rehab was just long enough to help me beat the nicotine addiction.
Notice I didn’t say ‘habit’, it’s a powerful addiction, not a habit.
It still was hard to beat, but it’s been almost exactly 5 years and it gets easier every day.
I have no proof - but I highly suspect that smoking was in vogue because it did kill respiratory viruses like this in communal areas.
My personal choice is Copenhagen Snuff.
