Kentucky worshippers met with nails in road as they defy coronavirus lockdown
NY Post ^ | April 12, 2020 | 4:14pm | Lee Brown

Many — including the defiant pastor, Rev. Jack Roberts — arrived with their plates covered, with officers instead recording their VIN numbers, the paper said.

Even more desperate measures appeared to have been taken to keep the faithful away — with “piles of nails” blocking each entrance, according to photos shared by the Courier Journal.

It was not clear who had left the nails, which were eventually cleared by church volunteers in time for the main arrivals, the paper said.

Kentucky State Police troopers then left large signs on every car left in the church lot, the paper said — accusing those present of “CREATING SCENES OF AN EMERGENCY.”

They noted that everyone in the car owner’s household would be forced to quarantine for 14-days for defying the warning — an order several worshippers told the Courier Journal that they planned to ignore.

No it wasn’t. There are videos of state troopers walking around the parking lot recording the plate numbers and sticking signs on every car windshield.

The Resurrection is Against the Law

An excerpt from Bill Wylie-Kellermann’s classic Seasons of Faith and Conscience (1991).

The sealing of the tomb is, I believe, notoriously misunderstood. I grew up with a Sunday School notion that to seal the tomb was a matter of hefting the big stone and cementing it tight. The seal, in my mind’s eye, was something like first-century caulking–puttying up the cracks to keep the stink in. Not so. This is a legal seal. Cords would be strung across the rock and anchored at each end with clay. To move the stone would break the seal and indicate tampering.

The event conspicuously echoes the story of Daniel sealed in the den of lions. “And a stone was brought and laid upon the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet and with the signet of his lords, that nothing might be changed concerning Daniel” (Daniel 6:18). As there, this is a legal lock on the tomb door–not air tight, but politically tight. To move the stone and break the seal is a civil crime. The resurrection is against the law.

The seal is also a recurring theme in the book of Revelation. Remember the scroll of history sealed with seven seals? Only One is worthy to break them and look upon or unveil the truth: that One is the Lamb who was slain. The seal is a claim of ownership and authority. Its meaning in Revelation is at least that God in Christ reigns sovereign over all history and in all events.

Caesar, in Pilate, on the other hand, violently disputes the claim. He has set his seal of approval on Jesus’ death, and now he guarantees it with troops. Secured by security forces. When the seal is broken in the resurrection, it stands among the signs that the power of the powers (death in all its forms) has been broken. The dominion of political authority–especially inflated, aggressive–and imperial authority has been cut to the heart.

This is what you get when you elect a demrat governor. The Rep. wasn't very fine but GOPERS still know not to do this, and they just aren't that addicted to power the way rays are, they are mostly just in it for the money and ego stroking. (John McLame was an exception)

How long is this “Emergency” supposed to last?

I think that once we have instructed the public on how to prevent themselves from getting this virus, the “Emergency” is over. The recommendations have been made. It’s time to let people decide for themselves if they want to quarantine themselves when they are perfectly healthy.

Your rights as a Citizen have been stripped from you. The right of a Governor to declare Martial law is limited. If it is unlimited, as you are proposing, then Liberty is nothing more than empty words on a piece of paper.

It’s time to let the citizens decide their own risk. If you want to hide in your basement until you starve to death, that’s your right. What you don’t have is the right to consign everyone else to their basement.

The first amendment guarantees the right to the free exercise of religion. These people have the right to get back to church. There is no end date to this so called emergency. Therefore it is NOT an emergency. It is now the status quo.

the right to religion does nit protect forms of worship examples using drugs in ceremonys or whipping people. Is there a court order which says you have to gather during an emergency? Never heard of one. Try zoom for instance as a substitute; that’s what my wife church does.

How would you like to be in the firehouse or the police station and two of your coworkers went to church with 400 people who are untested yesterday?

You see the gov and the president are to protect us That is their FIRST priority Every right has limitations. The right to religion is not changed. No one restricts your beliefs or right to pray or read the Bible during the emergency. Have seen no Mormons or Jehovah Witnesses in weeks. They used to come around every weekend.

I am a little perturbed that some people believe they have the right to carry and spread a virus during a pandemic.

How long will it last. You tell me. Let’s do mass exposure and kill it out along with another hundreds of thousand citizens. Burned out on this topic. Last word to your seniority

The same government which has no cure or vaccine for AIDS has been advocating for unsafe homosexual sex for decades. Now, even though there is a very effective treatment, they are locking down businesses and churches INDEFINITELY.

They didn’t even shut down gay bars and bathhouses and literally encouraged the spread of AIDS even when there was no treatment.

If you want to hide in your basement for the next 18 months on the off chance that they will complete some clinical trials and develop a vaccine that won’t kill you, then good for you. We’ve been locked down for a month. It’s time to stop the madness.

I am familiar with the history of Aids in the uS My friend from work died of aids. I went to the hospital and put on a a protective gown and mask just to be sure. No, I didn’t do the nasty with men. My wife wouldn’t let me. It was horrible at the end and i cried like my father beat me

The end of your post is a gross exaggeration. i walk OUTSIDE, I wear a mask to the store and pick up food at take outs where they come out to the curb.

Not exactly locked in.

I know small businesses are already hurting. i see it every week. My family and i and friends use zoom. We celebrated the first birthday of my grandson on zoom. My wife has bible study and service on Zoom.

My wife makes masks and deliveries them to people’s garages and leaves them there.

My life is not totally LOCKDOWN I worked in prison I can tell you what lock down looks like.

I won’t use my judgement to replace that of professional epidemiologist like the good people At Scripps Hospitals in SD who support what is going on.,

But be your own expert. We can try mass immunity of that’s what the doctors say. I’ll wear a mask and go about my business. If the feds say loosen up most governors will do it. They are closer to the problems in their own state.

I’m out. Did I say that already. sorry. LOL.

Let us remember the mantra that the Law and the Military will be on the side of the Patriots who defy a Government Order to surrender their Weapons.

What a laugh. Anyone who still believes that probably also believes in the tooth fairy.

You simply don’t understand varieties of Christianity.

Some varieties insist that they must meet because of verses that say they must.

You can argue with their interpretations, but they are allowed in America to believe differently.

They believe that they must follow God in this. This is one of those instances when they must render to God the things that are God’s.

I think it is Matthew 18:20 “For where Two or Three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

My beliefs and your beliefs are irrelevant to what someone else believes.

Being allowed to be a different denomination in America is not a theological debate.

It’s a right.

It’s irrelevant to me what their religion tells them they “must do.” If they chance spreading the disease and endangering other people’s lives it’s both immoral and WRONG.

Their constitutional right to practice their religion isn’t affecting anyone that anyone can prove.

In fact, they have as much right to go inside their building as I do to go inside a grocery store and shop for an hour. The store seems to be riskier, in my opinion.

Yet shopping is just fine. I’ve been a number of times myself.

So, to permit gatherings in one place and arbitrarily not allow gathering in a church is targeting religion for disfavor and is clearly against the constitution, as Kentucky a Federal District Judge ruled on Saturday.

You need food to continue to live.
You do not need to go to a church and potentially spread or contract a virus.
As I’ve repeatedly said, I have no problem with “drive-in” church services, or on-line church services. That seems, to me, to be a vastly safer and more intelligent way to deal with this.
