Didn’t acute flaccid myelitis come from south of the border? I believe it’s fairly well known there and has been imported to the U.S. — as have many other diseases that were previously unheard-of or eliminated here. Latent TB, for example, explains the high WuFlu rate among immigrants in NYC and northern Italy.
Looks like a possibility. Wonder if any of the doctors have mentioned this? Certainly not the ones they interviewed for this article. Hmm...
