Even with people staying in, carbon dioxide is breaking records [since record-keeping began at the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii way back in 1958]

The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is still rising, even though people are driving and flying less during the COVID-19 pandemic. CO2 reached an all-time daily high on May 3rd, hitting levels that haven’t been seen in the more than 60 years since records began.

The annual average is also expected to rise, according to an analysis published today by scientists at the national meteorological service for the UK and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. They found that the overall amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is still climbing steadily, and that the dramatic changes from the pandemic barely slowed it down.

The data shows how much more ambitious efforts need to be in order to stop heating up our planet...

It may feel like the world has come to a virtual stop amid orders to shut down businesses and shelter in place during the pandemic. The effect that’s had on how much planet-heating pollution people pump out is already about six times greater than the 2008 Great Recession had on carbon emissions. But the total drop in global greenhouse gas emissions this year as a result of the COVID-19 crisis is projected to be just about 8 percent, according to the International Energy Agency.

An important thing to keep in mind is that carbon dioxide can persist in the atmosphere for hundreds to thousands of years after it escapes our factories and tailpipes...

Carbon dioxide concentrations have peaked each year since record-keeping began at the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii in 1958.

Excerpt.

So while Climate Change activists push for COVID-19-type restrictions to be permanent, they cannot cite evidence yet that this would lower CO2. But they will blame conservatives for any negative effects blamed on Climate Change

Note as regards Climate Change, another site says, "While one [like me] might think that the side of a volcano might not be the best place to measure CO2, in fact the procedures used at Mauna Loa compensate for any contamination by volcanic gases. As shown in Figure 1, since 1980 we have had global CO2 data from a network of stations, and these data show that the Mauna Loa trend is very representative of the global trend in CO2. (https://skepticalscience.com/Co2-trend-not-caused-by-warming-oceans.html)

Meanwhile here in the NE we are experiencing nothing close to Global Warming.

But the Bible does foretell some very intense Warming:

And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory. (Revelation 16:8-9)

As I read the title. . .I thought to myself. . .what about global warming. . .I’m freezing! Everyone’s heating bills are going to go through the roof! And you are right. . .the global warming they need to be concerned about is the blazing heat in eternity for those who don’t profess Christ as Savior.

The oceans are the main CO2 sink. The colder they are the more CO2 they can hold. As they warm they release CO2.

The Mauna Loa data shows the ocean absorbing CO2 in the winter and releasing it in the summer.

I don’t know, it has been really cold where I live since the pandemic took hold. I’m sure it’s because of the reduced traffic.

Yeah, the Carolinas will get their first group of 80 degree days soon and it’s usually in the 90s by now.

Not sure if this is somehow related, but in the NE the leaves didn’t appear on the trees at their usual time. They were a few weeks late.

Oh noes! An all-time high! Because there wasn’t any CO2 in the atmosphere until the last 60 years.

Wow. Even destroying the global economy is not sufficient to stop global warming.

‘the global warming they need to be concerned about is the blazing heat in eternity for those who don’t profess Christ as Savior.’

I am agnostic concerning religion; am I going to burn in the lake of fire forever...?

Woke up to snow on my deck this morning . It snowed yesterday. It snowed 3 times last week for about 8” of total accumulation. It’s snowed more and has been colder than February.

Same is Michigan. It is as if nature was quarantined, too. I do think the lack of human activity is causing some weather differences, as in delaying spring. Human activity helps, not hinders, nature.

It has been down on the 20s here in MAY.

The Statue of Liberty is still above the water, children have seen snow during these last few years, the Artic has not gone tropical but still sends polar vortexes down to freeze us, etc. They are like Slow Joe, the only consistency that they have is being always wrong.
