Donald Trump sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi informing her that he was firing state department inspector general Steve Linick.
The president told Pelosi he no longer had the fullest confidence in Linick and promised to send a nominee to the Hill shortly. Later, the state department announced that Amb. Stephen Akard, a career foreign service officer, would run the inspector generals office. Akard was chief of staff for the Indiana Economic Development Corporation under then-governor Pence.
Linick was appointed in 2013 by President Obama and angered Trump by having a role in the impeachment drama. He was also said to be investigating Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for alleged misuse of a political appointee to perform personal tasks for him and Mrs. Pompeo.
Naturally, Democrats heads were exploding all over the Hill.
The presidents late-night, weekend firing of the State Department inspector general has accelerated his dangerous pattern of retaliation against the patriotic public servants charged with conducting oversight on behalf of the American people, Pelosi said in an statement. Inspector General Linick was punished for honorably performing his duty to protect the Constitution and our national security, as required by the law and by his oath.
Rep. Eliot L. Engel (D-N.Y.), chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, called Linicks dismissal an outrageous act of a president trying to protect one of his most loyal supporters, the secretary of State, from accountability.

Great, there are hundreds more to go.
Another one of the many Obongo holdovers that should have dumped 3 1/2 years ago.
The next conservative presidential candidate should simply declare he intends to fire every deputy-agency person located in Washington on day one, because the bureaucracies have proven themselves completely untrustworthy.
That way, no one will be surprised when it happens.
Anyone involved in the impeachment should be fired. Trump should also learn his lesson and when he wins second term, ask for resignations of all political appointees and accept those from pre-Trump and any that were recommended by Rince Prebus and other Never Trumpers. Clean House!!! He should have done this at start of first term.
He's just now getting around to this? Dismissal of all the obamanoids should have been done on Day One.
Weak. Very weak.
Without a doubt.
the media freaked out when Bush fired eight judges but said nothing when Clinton or 0bama fired all judges.

This!
Drain the swamp!
JoMa
You mean US Attorneys.
And what so dang funny is the democrats fake outrage over it. As more are fired, more outrage, but more outrage becomes always outrage, which quickly loses its impact.
In fact, after 3 years of this phony TDS outrage, it already has.
The request for resignations must be done very early in an administration so that they are not considered political. Dems do this. Anything a Republican does in attempt to look like a nice guy will be stomped on by the left
Not judges; district attorneys.

unfortunately, a president cannot fire a judge.
Would that it were literally true.
Obama and Bubba didn’t fire judges. They fired attorneys.
You can't implement your program if the bureaucracy is sabotaging you all the time. You can't get "socialism in one country" if your bureaucracy is all about "permanent revolution." In the same way, you can't implement "America first" if your bureaucracy are all convinced Globalists. No, like Stalin, you first have to replace all the old bureaucratic guard with your own stalwarts before you have any chance for success. Trump must do the same, and hopefully he's figured that out now.
I always believed that Stalin's 1937 methods were perhaps a bit, well, draconian, and not at all necessary here in 'Murca, but now that irrefutable evidence of a coordinated, relentless, three-year-long soft coup attempt is out there for all to see, I'm beginning to think that Uncle Joe may have been on to something . . .
The damn dems “get it.” The Republicans don’t get it.
DRAIN THE SWAMP! Most important, to drain early and avoid a problem coming from a mole that you know is against your every move.
As I noted on a similar thread last night, the last person to hold the position of State Department IG was Howard Krongard, who had been appointed by George W. Bush, and served until January 15th, 2008. There was never a permanent IG for the State Department because Obama never nominated anyone for the position while Hillary was Secretary. This guy Linick wasn’t nominated until Kerry took over. Hillary had free-reign without having to worry about anyone looking over her shoulder. And of course, the media could have cared less that Obama left that position vacant all that time. They only rant and rave when President Trump fires someone who deserves to be fired.
