I just saw the documentary “American Factory”. It’s about a Chinese company taking over a shut down GM plant in Ohio and turning it into an auto glass factory.
It shows what a formidable foe China is and will continue to be in the industrial sector.
They are focused, driven, patient confident and management and workers united in their mission - vs Americans despondent, demoralized and divided. The difference in cultural attitudes are stark.
It’s rather ominous and a wake up call, and leaves open the question—how are we going to compete or deal with them?
I read somewhere that China possesses the ability to field a 200 MILLION man army. Odd that the Bible mentions that specific number in association with the “Kings of the East” in the Last Days.
Since China has the numbers, I believe America has no choice but to work faster, smarter, and more stealthily. Not just militarily, but also financially. Sort of the same principle as the 300 Spartans going up against the infinitely bigger and better-armed Persian army at Thermopylae. They logistically shouldn’t have won. They COULDN’T have won. But they did.
Maybe 10 years ago I saw a news program where the reporter was interviewing some guy who made door locks for cars.
I probably dont have the prices right, but it went something like this. The guys factory was located in the United States. He could make a quality door lock assembly for $5, which he sold for $7.
Then the Chinese entered the market. They sold their door locks for $3. Their quality wasnt as good as the USA ones, but they were good enough.
The guy being interviewed said that he saw his employees as family. And he was almost crying. He said that he had no choice but to move his factory to China. It was the only way to save his business.
So whats the solution here? Free-traders dont want to hear it. But the solution is tariffs.
