Federal Criminal Offenses and the Impeachment of Donald J. Trump
JustSecurity.Org ^ | December 16, 2019 | Andrew Weissman And Friends

Posted on 05/21/2020 2:06:36 PM PDT by PresidentFelon

This collection of leading legal experts discusses a range of federal crimes that apply to the conduct of President Donald Trump, based on the evidence produced by the House of Representatives’ impeachment inquiry. These crimes include all of the federal offences listed in the Chapter headings, except for Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. In that Chapter, the author concludes that the impeachment inquiry did not examine the relevant evidence for one of the elements of the crime, although a lot of that evidence has arisen in investigative reports by journalists. The final Chapter includes an important federal law that does not trigger criminal liability, but does implicate the President’s constitutional obligation to ensure the laws are faithfully executed. Close readers will also notice some nuances in the authors’ analyses. Compare for example Barbara McQuade’s and Randall Eliason’s discussion of whether a White House visit for a head of state counts as an “official act” for the purposes of bribery and honest services fraud. Finally, a point worth underscoring: as Andrew Weissmann explains in the Introduction, impeachable offenses need not be criminal in nature, and not all crimes are impeachable offences. Members of Congress certainly do not need to conclude that the President committed a crime for impeachment, conviction, and removal. Nevertheless, the fact that these leading experts reach the conclusion that several federal crimes apply to President Trump’s conduct involving Ukraine is an important consideration for the annals of history and for the historic decision Congress now faces.

Just my effort to further expose the hyper-partisan Andrew Weissmann, lead attorney on the Mueller Witch Hunt and prime player along with the rest of the left-wing legal thugs at Lawfare in the corrupt Democrats' failed attempt to depose a duly elected president in the absence of high crimes and misdemeanors.

As you say, there was nothing “independent” about the Counsel.

It was a Left wing assassination squad twisting the laws to their own partisan purpose in a way almost never seen in American history.

And it ain’t over, now the the curtains are being pulled back.

Why Weissman isn’t in Prison for the Enron Scam or the Ted Stevens Scam is beyond me, at the very least he should have been disbarred YEARS AGO!!

I wonder if Weismann’s wife and kids, assuming that he is a family man, look forward to the arrival of this asshole at the end of each workday?

Absolutely!!! That is a good question, why is he still allowed to practice law, especially for the federal government?

He’s keeping a pretty low profile this year...probably not too comfortable with what MAY be coming out soon about his and others activities.

Sidney Powell has the goods on him and if he was smart, he’d head for the hills.

Weissmann should hang. If I had the chance, I’d pull the drop lever.

If they had an award for the Scumbag Lawyer of the Century, Andrew Weissmann would win it hands down.

Impeachable offenses appear to be anything with which you can get a majority of House votes. The rub is getting 2/3 of the Senate to agree.
