Agreed; he was.
Sessions had a responsibility to look at the evidence before recusing himself.
Sessions should have said, “let me see what is the basis for this Russian Collusion investigation”
But he didn’t.
He just recused himself and did nothing but collect a paycheck for 2 years.
Sessions could have stopped this all in early 2017. Shut it down.
No Mueller, no congressional investigations, etc.
If Sessions had said “no, there is no basis for this investigation” it would have put the Democrats on the defensive.
Instead, the Dems and media spent 3 years reporting the Russian Collusion premise as true. It put doubts into everyone’s minds, including many Republicans.
It weakened support for Trump as politicians hedged their bets and did not want to be seen as supporting a Russian agent.
Sessions could have prevented all of this.
Sessions is Mr LIMPET.....he’s a scared little mouse of a man.
Patrick Fitzgerald should or could have shut down le affair Plame out of the gate too, but he played pretend and coy that Plame had “Non Official Cover’ (NOC) status, which is the easiest element of the crime to find/disprove.
I’m of a mind that the role of Special Counsel is be a dishonest hack. They are created for political purposes, and they know it.
The argument given for non-recusal isn't evidence-based, it's that the investigation was a spy investigation, not a criminal one. DOJ is for criminal stuff.
Given the forces aligned against the Trump administration, from inside DOJ, inside FBI, inside Congress, the press ... Sessions was toast from the get-go.

Maybe. It would have taken a bit of foresight because he was asked about recusal during his confirmation hearing. Durbin was in on the scheme. Sessions didn't commit to recusing if the issue was Trump campaign.
At any rate, I view sessions as an honest man in the middle of a fundamentally dishonest government. Everybody in his orbit was gunning to take him out. Heck, years later, and the system is STILL tilted against Trump. Wray has been hiding evidence, the Senate has been passive aggressive against Trump, the House has been obsessed (thanks to Ryan, et al for ceding the House to the DEMs). Barr, who has substantial cache, is barely able to get candle-light on the subject.
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing"
Sessions did nothing.
He was at least in the middle of firing Comey, if not forcing Rosenstein to do so.
I'm not arguing Sessions was the right man for the job. Only saying that I view your opinion as sucky, unrealistic, mean-spiritied, etc.
I assume you find my opinion similarly sucky, and I'm fine with that.
Not sure why they’re bothering. There won’t be any prosecutions resulting from it.
Don’t worry. Barrstool will soon issue a strongly worded memo, followed by Double Secret Probation.
Barr is a coverup artist. He has buried bad stuff for decades.
So it makes sense that he would make some noise and steer some sort of investigation in the direction of his pal Mueller—to make sure the evidence of wrongdoing gets covered up before he declares him off the hook.
Results is what we need, not we will do X, we will do y, we will do z..........and then no results ever show up. Tired of hearing GOP officials say what they are doing or will do and then it all goes down the proverbial rabbit hole.
I don’t want to hear ever more about investigations. I want to hear about criminal charges and arrests.
Mueller was a decrepit figure head. His Congressional testimony proved he was unfamiliar with the report he put his name to.
Weisman ran this entire charade. Start with Weisman and peel the onion back from there. Hard time on the rock pile for all. Chain gangs would work to.
I they expand it anymore, is will wrap around on itself causing the world first Mobius Investigation.
Nonsense. The DOJ does espionage cases too. The bring cases on any and all Federal laws.
