VIRGINIA — The Virginia Department of Health reported 37,727 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 Monday. According to The Virginian-Pilot, the nearly 1,500 cases added over the last 24 hours constitute the biggest one-day jump in at least a week. Virginia also reported 1,208 deaths and 4,269 hospitalizations.
The top five health districts for number of cases are Fairfax, with 9,587; Prince William, with 5,812, Loudoun, with 2,047; Arlington, with 1,897; and Alexandria, with 1754.
Fairfax also has the highest number of deaths, with 339. The Henrico health district is a distant second with 118, followed by Prince William with 108, Arlington with 101 and Loudoun with 52.
While all health districts have reported at least one case of COVID-19 by now, only the Cumberland Plateau district has yet to report any deaths. However, the state has confirmed its second case in a child thus far of a Kawasaki disease-like inflammatory syndrome related to COVID-19, according to WRIC-TV.
WAVY-TV reports that the Virginia Department of Health is now breaking down its statistics to separate northern Virginia, where the coronavirus has hit hardest, with the rest of the state. Northern Virginia has delayed the first phase of reopening until at least the end of the month.

Yep. The left ha been screaming about a huge explosion of cases in states that opened, but haven’t seen any huge increases then ignores/discredits large increases in lock don areas.
Could it be in these states that never did hard “shut it all down” closures possibly gained some semblance of heard immunity by people still going out?

One day jumps up and down are to be expected. If it starts going up at a rapid, non-stop rate, then there might be a problem.
The simple truth is more testing = more cases found. However, and what the Patch fake news omits is that with more cases of infection discovered it also means the infection/death ratio goes DOWN not up. It's all about taking advantage of the crisis and promoting the "vote by mail" subterfuge.
Here in CA, the new cases and deaths keep mounting, scaring the living crap out of everyone.
The problem as I see it, according to the daily CORONAVIRUS, WE’RE ALL GONNA CATCH IT AND DIE page in my newspaper, is when you break down the new numbers by county. 80-90% of the new cases are in those counties from Santa Barbara south to the Mexican border and east to the Nevada border, with Los Angeles County taking the brunt of it. In the SF area, we are seeing maybe 10 or 20 per day. And when you go to the north and east of the state, they are reporting 1 or 2 per day.
Worse yet, the screaming headlines on the top of the page, keep talking about the “total cases”, not showing that 80% of those cases are from February and March, and the only thing being flattened now is the economy worldwide.
But, “orange man bad”!

Has testing also seen a recent increase? This report is useless without that information.
More hype to keep VA locked up. Northam set June 10 as the end of lockdown. Is he trying to extend it?
VA has had 1208 deaths and 38,000 cases. Half of the deaths were in nursing homes. VA should be opening up now. GA has had more deaths and cases. It is seeing a decline in hospitalizations and deaths.
The number of new cases should not be the metric. Increased testing will capture more asymptomatic cases. Hospitalizations should be the metric.
505 deaths yesterday nationwide. It is the lowest since March 29.
The “surge” in COVID cases is a function of testing not necessarily that more people are getting the virus. The majority people with the virus have no symptoms and are only identified by testing. Testing more people just identifies people who have the virus already not necessarily new cases.
It is not so much the lockdown. It is the proximity to the connection of NYC. It was already here. It will pass through. You know the Ccp virus is real? It kills people. People I know.
