Trump is worried about the election and these liberal tech companies swaying the average voter. They’re powerful because they control the news ‘feeds’

I don’t see how it can be constitutional

Social media platforms are given immunity in regard to what posters post. If they censor the posts, then they would lose those protections since they would then be responsible for everything posted on their platforms. They can’t censor and then claim immunity since everything they don’t censor would be considered in line with their own views.

Either allow free expression or accept liability for every post.

Do you want the Gab app?

Good luck with that. Go to Google play. Go to the Apple store. You won’t find it. They won’t allow the app for your phone. And of course they don’t want it. It’s a conservative free-speech app. Everything that they are against.

You would stand a better chance of finding a DU shill here at FR openly supporting Joe Biden.

Gab is like MeWe. It’s a desert, unfortunately.

Isn't Gab the "social media platform" that got booted off their internet carriers a year or so ago that Twatter was all aflutter over?

I hope you are right, but I could see a bunch of leftish shenanigans happening if the order is overly broad.

And free Republic clearly states it’s conservative bias, but welcomes all speech including liberal speech so we can convince them to get their heads out of their asses.

What’s needed is a conservative social media platform. We’ve had this discussion a few times.

If Trump went to one of these alternatives he would instantly make them one of the top websites in the world.

He has 80 million followers !!

I believe these companies receive federal funding so he may remove their monies.

“Twitter will be banned from any content labeling.

Facebook will be banned from any banning attempts. “

That’s some wishful thinking right there...

How difficult would it really be for a trump friendly organization to create another "TWITTER" or another CNN type network ?

Are the communication lines that tightly controlled by leftists ?

“So what that means is the taxpayers will have to buy Twitter, Facebook and YouTube (at least).”

It means nothing of the sort. The government did not have to buy Verizon and ATT to make it illegal for them to prevent me from placing a call to the Trump for President campaign. They cannot censor my text messages for content or stop me from communicating with anyone who wants to talk to me also.

In return, Verizon isn’t held liable when a stalker terrorizes his ex on the phone.

It’s laughable to assert that we have to buy the company.

Besides you can buy Youtube and Facebook for 200 billion. Throw in another 4 billion for twitter. Hell we just spent 2 trillion on a tuesday last month. Throw in all of Google and it’s another trillion.
But we don’t have to. We just clip their wings. And it’ll be easy to do with all the business they do with Red China :)

The last time I checked, the taxpayers don't own ATT, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc......

Huck made an EXCELLENT point!

“This is a tough one. These are private companies that in theory should be able to delete or ban him at will. No different than FR. If they want to be liberal, conservatives need an alternative.”

Someone quoted Mike Huckabee earlier as comparing these social media companies to the phone company. What if the phone company was using a filter so if you said something unacceptable over the phone lines they cut off your call and cancelled your account? Wouldn’t that be comparable to what Facebook / Twitter / YouTube are doing now? That wouldn’t be tolerated... why should this?

it aint easy because of the amount of resources needed. I dont think it can be done outside Silicon Valley and that’s the problem.

If it can be proven that twatter is showing extreme bias going into an election, perhaps the FEC can get involved.

Exactly right. In 2016 google alone accounted for a 10% polling difference in favor of Hillary. Despite the best efforts of Google, Facebook, Twitter and the main stream media, Hillary still lost.

It is now 2020. Do you honestly think these American enemies will make the same mistake twice? They most certainly have learned what they need to do to steal this election. Fortunately for all of America they have pinned their hopes and dreams on a senile demented old fool.

When a president signs an executive order, it becomes law unless Congress overrides it in 90 days after he put it in the Federal register. Same for signing statements.

It isn’t new.

And it has to be something dealing with the executive branch. But there are about 15,000 ways that Twitter and Fakebook and Google cross paths with the executive branch.
I know you hate Trump, but he is on very solid ground to regulate the absolute living hell outta them.

Yes we do. But the start-up costs would far exceed those that run FR, I’m
guessing, mainly due to all the data, image etc storage. A straight forum app, well has anyone thought of appifying FR with Jim’s permission?
