POTUS should get off Twitter. Go to a different platform. But he would be accused of having a financial interest in wherever he goes.

From what I read there I am not quite clear that this actually does anything.

This is a sticky issue.

First of all, the old phrase “no shirt, no shoes, no service” comes to mind here. Can’t Instagram and Facebook and Twitter simply refuse service to someone? I don’t think a person has a right to access these platforms. Those that do, do so under their rules.

Now, you have freedom of speech on the internet, but not freedom from consequence. Want to be unchecked? Start your own website or blog. You’re guaranteed the right to be able to do that. You’re not guaranteed that right on someone else’s brand.

Will be interesting to see it develop.

They asked for it.

They got it.

Any link to the text of the Executive Order? It’s not on the White House site yet.

Has it been stopped by an Obama district court judge yet?

Did I understand the order correctly. It requires folks to talk to other folks in government to look to see if the rules are being followed?

What kind of order is this?

There is a movement in the Millennial circles the make basic internet a government paid for “free service” I.e. a right. If they do that, then it should be regulated by the FCC.

Think about that.

RE:”The order will direct executive branch agencies to speak to independent rule-making agencies, such as the Federal Communications Commissioner, to look at whether new regulations can be enforced on the Silicon Valley giants.
Mr Trump argues that the fact-checking on his tweets amounts to “editorial decisions” by Twitter, adding is akin to political activity”

‘look at whether’ ???

The argument is sound.

But the law is in the way.

Absent new law there is little that can be done besides harassing these companies over every infraction of every law still on the books. Even some BS laws and regulations. And twisted logic in their application.

Just like the commies would do.

Until/unless Congress acts, that’s all we’ve got.

And the first action of the real presidential campaign finally happens. Sure, Twitter, you can ‘fact check’ or ‘block’ or ‘delete’ the president’s tweets, but you better be filing your campaign contribution reports for doing so, as you’re actively campaigning in a federal election.

I don’t think silicon valley has the slightest clue what a pandora’s box of regulations they just opened. Plus the absolute fun of opening the courtrooms to suing JOINTLY the tweeter and Twitter for libel since they’ve decided to fact check tweets.

Knew this was going to bite them in the rump.

Mr Trump argues that the fact-checking on his tweets amounts to "editorial decisions" by Twitter, adding is akin to political activism.

I would argue that everything that the enemedia does -along with big social enemedia- is akin to in kind donations to the democrat party.

("Social Enemedia?" I like that. Think I'll put it in Urban Dictionary after I post this.)
