BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Bakersfield police said 10 people were arrested and the Fallen Officer Memorial was vandalized during protests Friday night in downtown over the death of George Floyd.

In a statement, officials said “a majority of the protesters obeyed the law” and left the scene of protests that began around 5 p.m. Friday and continued into the early morning hours Saturday. But some from the crowd threw rocks and bottles at officers.

The department said the group, estimated at 200 to 300 people, eventually entered the streets and blocked traffic on Truxtun Avenue.

Police said the 10 people were arrested an for resisting and obstructing officers after they were given an order to disperse. One other person was arrested on an attempted murder charge for allegedly driving through the crowd of protesters, striking a 15-year-old girl.

Anyone with information related to the vandalism of the police memorial is asked to call Bakersfield police at 327-7111.

Bakersfield is represented by GOP Congressman Kevin McCarthy...

I have visited Bakersfield several times... There are "bad" neighborhoods in Bakersfield...

In my opinion, thugs from those "bad" neighborhoods created problems in Downtown Bakersfield...

My guess is that many escape to those "bad" neighborhoods in Bakersfield from Los Angeles County ghettos...

Probably a bunch of boozed up blue-hairs who got themselves all worked up into a frenzy after a night of listening to The Buckaroos at Buck Owens's restaurant.

I should know. I've been there. Very subversive crowd. Very subversive.

You're 100% correct: THUGS.
The problem in the L.A. area is that the price of property keep going up. And when the oldsters of a multi-generational family DIE their property is up for grabs by the government and those family offspring.

All too often the offspring of those old families weren't brought up with those "old families" values: work, family, work, church, work...and work some more.

Government handouts have given those offspring a STRONG sense of entitlement. The "gubmin" is EXPECTED to support these losers. And, the support is NEVER, NEVER, EVER enough.

Remember all the protests and riots over the tens of thousands of innocent blacks, black children, babies, school kids women killed in gang violence over the years? Neither do I. They should call these riots the "media incited hypocrisy riots"

Show this to these a*sholes who are supporting these riots including that absolute wack job Chicago Mayor Lori Lightinthehead who yesterday said F U to Trump...........

At least 50 people were shot in Chicago over Memorial Day weekend. The next day, another 28 were shot, including a 5-year-old girl standing with her family

“thugs from those “bad” neighborhoods created problems in Downtown Bakersfield”

Or they could have been from elsewhere -

For sure I thought changing the name of Cottonwood Rd to Martin Luther King Jr. Lane would have done more for race relations there......

My Mother lived in Bakersfield, I used to visit as often as possible.

There are neighborhoods in Bakersfield that are more like Mogadishu or Tijuana and you are just as likely to get killed there as you would in those 2 cities.

Most of these crap weasels came right out of LA, Compton, Lynwood ,La Puente, Lakewood, Huntington Park, Montebello, etc.

One wonders if they’re still in jail or they were cited and released.

Probably cited and released so everything’s back to normal
