Transcripts of phone calls in late 2016 between President Trumps former national security adviser Michael Flynn and a Russian diplomat were released Friday, showing that the two did discuss sanctions as the incoming administration sought to avoid escalating the conflict over Russian interference in the presidential election.
The conversations were secretly monitored by U.S. agents as part of intelligence-gathering on then-Russian ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak. Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to FBI agents in early 2017 when he was asked if he discussed sanctions with the ambassador. He has since argued he was unfairly targeted by the FBI, and earlier this month the Justice Department asked a judge to toss out his guilty plea.
The fate of the retired U.S. Army general has divided Republicans and Democrats months before the presidential election, while Trump, who fired Flynn in February 2017, now casts him as a hero.
In the transcript of a Dec. 29, 2016, call between Flynn and Kislyak, it is clear that Flynn was trying to convince Russia not to respond aggressively to the Obama administration decision that day to eject 35 suspected Russian intelligence operatives from the U.S. and impose sanctions on Russian intelligence agencies. The administrations actions came in response to Russian hacking to influence the election.

But no, WAPO's Devlin Barrett is still pushing the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax and contending that what Flynn said was so illegal that he needs to be severely punished.
So? that was his job...
Exactly.
Well Adam Housley just Tweeted this!
Wray will be fired and other FBI charges...

Those WAPO guys are delusional haters. They got caught with their pants down.
Reading the WaPost article, it makes you wonder whether they are literate.
Sounds like diplomacy. Also sounds like they discussed not over-reacting to sanctions rather than discussing the sanctions by the U.S. themselves.
Another article written by two individuals, who can’t see fit to write an article on their own. One lies, and the other swears to it.
Trump would be foolish not to fire Deep State RAT Wray.
I hate this “XYZ will be fired” BS. Just do it already, then talk about it. I can’t understand letting people know the ax is about to fall (if it actually is).
I have been thinking about Obama’s early jobs as a Community Organizer as the USA is dealing with the rioting during the past three days. Namely, the rioting is being done to make Trump deal with a new problem.
As a Community Organizer, Obama’s job was to whip people into a frenzy in order to make his political opponents uncomfortable.
Well, it seems to me that Obama’s took his Community Organizing skills to a new level when he issued the sanctions against Russia on December 29, 2016. He wanted to make life as miserable as he could between Russia and the new Trump Presidency.
Thanks for the link. I don’t do Twitter or any other social media site, so I appreciate it when Freepers share them with the rest of us. Here’s hoping that Wray’s time is short. Millions in investments in Russia? Oh my!!!
“Obamas early jobs as a Community Organizer as the USA is dealing with the rioting during the past three days.”
I seriously believe he’s involved in all of this now, don’t you? It’s his job; it’s what he does.
Fellow cat lover here, btw.
Hously just Tweeted his source is impeccable! No matter how it goes Wray will be out. Im very happy to hear this. I know we all say hurry up and wait but hes adamant tonight.
He basically said....whoah...hardly some big "plan". And looks like the ambassador was a pain in the arce and initiated most of the calls.
At the meeting on Jan 5th, Comey said...that's a lot of calls but there's nothing there.
Sure. Im on Twitter daily. If you ever need certain info feel free to ask.
I read things there in detail sometimes days before it ever shows up here on FR. Sad but true. ;)
True, but WaPo is lying anyway. They didn't discuss sanctions. They discussed expulsions.
“””I seriously believe hes involved in all of this now, dont you? Its his job; its what he does.”””
I had not gone that far in my thinking as to the ‘dirty tricks’ could still be orchestrated by Obama and his band of thugs. But given the sloppiness by Obama and his band of thugs in exonerating Hillary Clinton and setting up Trump, I guess anything is possible.
It would really be cool if smart phone data from arrested Antifa hooligans were tied to Obama and his minions.
Now that would make my day.
“Transcripts of calls between Flynn, Russian diplomat show they discussed sanctions...”
And?
“””At the meeting on Jan 5th, Comey said...that’s a lot of calls...””””
And why would there not be a lot of calls between Russia and the Trump Team? After all Obama had just kicked a whole bunch of Russian officials out of the USA on Dec 29th when he had 22 days left in office.
As far as I have been able to determine nobody from the Obama Team contacted the Trump Team prior to Obama’s expulsion of the Russians on Dec 29th. Would it not be common curtesy to talk to your replacement before making such a move?
Any sane person would expect the Russians to call the Trump Team.
Whether or not the phone transcript shows that Flynn and Kislyak discussed sanctions is meaningless.
1. Mueller’s FBI toadies did not charge Flynn with talking about sanctions. They charged him with obstruction when there was no case to obstruct.
2. An incoming NSA has a right to talk about what sanctions may apply twenty days later when he takes office.
