There should be protests.' Mayor Kapszukiewicz and community leaders address George Floyd

Just four days after George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis Police Officer, Derek Chauvin, and the video sparked protests across the country, Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz welcomed in a few dozen African American community leaders to talk at One Government Center.

Mayor Kapszukiewicz acknowledged that Toledo is 652 miles away from Minneapolis, where the incident happened that resulted in Floyd's death. But he said the video made him sick to his stomach and he made a long-term commitment to opening up communication, and having difficult conversations like he had.

In front of the Safety Building after the meeting, the mayor touched on at least two planned protests for this weekend in Toledo.

"There should be protests. Are you kidding me? If now is not the time to protest, after what happened in Minneapolis, I just don't know when you ever would."

Toledo Police Chief George Kral also supported the possibility of peaceful protests.

"Our job as police officers is to allow anyone to protest that wants to protst. That's our job. We're there to protect them as they protest, and that's what we're going to do. As long as everything stays peaceful, they can march where they want, stand where they want, say what they want, and we will defend their First Amendment right to speak."

Chief Kral said the death of Floyd made him very angry, and it was not indicative of police officers across country.

In a Tweet he posted on Thursday, Kral reiterated that there was no explanation for what happened in Minneapolis.

"Let me put it this way. If a Toledo Police crew showed up to a crime and they saw a person kneeling on an unconscious person's neck, that person would have been in handcuffs that night."

The Frederick Douglass Community Association's Reggie Williams was emotional, but encouraged the African American community to unite and stay focused.

"It's hard to see that, that people would want us to be dead. We're human beings, and I am a man. I am somebody."

Officer Derek Chauvin has been charged with third degree murder for the death of George Floyd. He was fired by Minneapolis PD on Tuesday.

Over 1 guy in a far-off city? Why?

This is nothing but spoiled-rotten brattiness. Any excuse to rape and pillage.

Leftist politicians continuously stoke resentment, anger and hopelessness with their ideology.

Now they get to see the results.

BREAKING: man critically injured at Dallas riots

It appears he attempted to defend a shop with a large sword

Looters ran at him, then he charged rioters

They then beat him with a skateboard and stoned him with medium sized rocks

I called an Ambulance and it’s on the way pic.twitter.com/kFxl3kjsBC— ELIJAH (@ElijahSchaffer) May 31, 2020

You don’t often meet someone with 13 letters in his last name.

Mayor: 10 arrests and 3 injuries, including a police officer, during Saturday protests Part of downtown is under curfew until 6 a.m. following the earlier protests to draw attention to the death of Minnesotan George Floyd. Author: WTOL Newsroom Published: 11:49 PM EDT May 30, 2020 Updated: 11:55 PM EDT May 30, 2020

"TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz expressed support for residents' right to protest to draw attention to racial problems in the wake of Minnesotan George Floyd's death, but condemned the violence that is routinely accompanying the demonstrations - including right here in Ohio.

As of 11 p.m. Sunday, the mayor said 10 people had been arrested and three people were injured when protesters and police clashed. Numerous businesses downtown and in west Toledo were damaged.... "

The Mayor has never held a job in his life. He has ALWAYS been a Democrat politician or flunkie. His roots are liberal east coast.

It doesn’t surprise me in the least knowing his background.

Behold, the results of electing Democrats, don’t it make you feel all warm and fuzzy! You don’t need a gun, the police will protect you if the Mayor allows it, or at least make sure you body gets to the morgue

“Just four days after George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis Police Officer, Derek Chauvin,...”

Since it has not been established that Chauvin’s actions killed Floyd, channel 24 should be careful about that claim. The same can be said of the Mayor of Minneapolis who declared Chauvin guilty of murder shortly after the incident. That is predjudicial to a jury and if Chauvin is NOT found guilty I hope he sues that p*ssy of a Mayor for several million dollars for defamation.

It appears he attempted to defend a shop with a large sword

I wonder what experience this man had in sword play.

Very few people today get much practice with swords.

Most of the swords in private hands are also cheap mass-produced reproductions produced in China and sold on TV shows. You will find that most of these blades are sold with out a cutting edge. They are made for display not combat.

Don’t get me wrong you could still do damage with these reproductions but if you are serious about swords go to a real bladesmith. You get what you pay for.

I hope the shop keep at least gave someone a bruise to remember him by.
