Minneapolis Restaurant Owners Encouraged Violence... Including Against Their Own Business

The Bangladeshi-Indian restaurant, Gandhi Mahal, in Minneapolis' 3rd Precinct was burned to the ground during riots that ravaged the city Thursday night into Friday morning. The restaurant sat in the epicenter of where America's riots began following the death of George Floyd. In fact, 18-year-old Hafsa Islam, the restaurant owner's daughter, saw Floyd being arrested while she was making a Door Dash delivery. She learned later in the day that Floyd had died.

Hafsa was originally upset with the fact that her family's business – and main source of income – was lost until she heard her father say, "Let the buildings burn. Justice needs to be served. Put those officers in jail," the New York Times reported.

It was then that Hafsa says she realized what was most important to her and her family.

“It helped me realize what we were there for,” she told BuzzFeed News. “It has gotten to a point where this is the only way that we can get justice, and we can change the system.”

Anyone got some tickets to pakistan? To paraphrase Pedo joe : "You can't go into a seven eleven or donut shop or hindi restaurant without having a paki accent." Guess the insurance money and SBA loans are pretty sweet.

Wait till he finds his insurance doesn’t consider riot, insurrection and domestic disturbances.

Usually a business has to pay a lot extra for that coverage as a rider, and I doubt that he did.

Perhaps he did...and perhaps he had it combined with “replacement cost coverage”. That would certainly explain his attitude.

If the policy contained coverage now, this incident caused higher risks and now higher rates. Higher rates, higher prices, less business....
There are consequences.

If I was an insurance actuary, I would not offer that coverage to any "inner city" business at any price, precisely because of "moral hazard" risk, where the owner of a marginal business encourages rioters to torch his business.

None of this is unprecedented. If you go back to the 1992 Rodney King riots, the imbeciles did the same dumbass things. They pretty much leveled East LA (we’re not allowed to call it that anymore. It’s now *South Los Angeles*).

Maxi Waters pitched in to help, probably the first time she had ever been in her own district. The four time winner of Most Corrupt Member of Congress showed up to offer water, aid and comfort, not to the police or other emergency service workers. Nope, our low IQ Maxi was there to support the rioters.

There was a price to be paid for mob stupidity. Many essential businesses, eg grocery stores, pharmacies, big boxes, etc never rebuilt. If you want to open a business, good luck getting insurance.

I don’t know if there has been any progress towards recovery since. The city has tried incentive programs, as I recall.

But, it’s already close to impossible to start a business in California anyway, why pick a stupid location?

It is no accident that imported Third Worlders have businesses in the impacted areas; normal Americans don’t go there anymore, and we traffick foreigners there to keep the lights on and prepare the fast food for our own permanent underclass.

That coverage isn’t expensive, though few buy it. They were probably going broke anyway. They are counting on govt rebuild money.

I am thinking he sucked at running his business and wanted out. But as many have said, many insurance policies exclude war, riots, and insurrection.

Hope the dipstick got what he deserved, instead of what he wanted.
