Minnesota's governor appointed state Attorney General Keith Ellison on Sunday to lead the prosecution of any cases arising from the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody.
Former Minneapolis police Officer Derek Chauvin is charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in Floyd's death on May 25 as Chauvin pinned his neck to the ground with his knee.
Gov. Tim Walz announced Ellison's appointment as lead prosecutor shortly after the Hennepin County prosecutor said he had asked Ellison to "assist" in the investigation, two days after 10 members representing Minneapolis in the state House asked Walz in a letter to transfer the case to Ellison.

Technically this is legal - but as the attorney general is intimately involved in this case, doesn’t that mean he should recuse himself?

What if the case is pretty bad and not going to be easy to get a conviction? We already know they really didn’t feel there was enough evidence for a charge and then charged less than 24 hrs later to try and stop the riots.
