LOS ANGELES - An armed man was arrested overnight for allegedly impersonating a National Guard member.
As FOX 11 first reported, authorities told us 31-year-old Gregory Wong was taken into custody on assault weapon charges after being found with a cache of weapons.
The Los Angeles Police Department said Wong was arrested near the intersection of E. 1st Street and N. Main Street in downtown Los Angeles around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. Several protests over the death of George Floyd have been held in the area.
Sources told FOX 11 investigative reporter Bill Melugin that Wong got dropped off by an Uber right across LAPD headquarters. He then tried to get into formation with a unit of National Guard soldiers who were defending downtown LA from looters.
However, he was quickly spotted out by soldiers based on the gun he had.
Officials told FOX 11 that Wong was carrying an AR-15 rifle rather than an M4 or M16, the typical gear the National Guard carry. Officials also say Wong had other high end tactical gear like night vision goggles and a sidearm.

I’ve heard there’s a militia in CA that calls itself the national guard, that recruits to asians.
sum ting wong...
Rooftop Korean wanting to join the action?
Or actor for foreign government wanting another Kent State.
Agent provocateur most likely. If he hadn’t been caught, he might have launched a bloodbath that would have been laid right at Trump’s feet.
Possibly was going to contrive to shoot some protesters and try to melt away in the confusion, so deaths would be blamed on the NG and thus on Pres. Trump.
That's exactly what this was.

Idiots all the way around.
The guy for trying to infiltrate and the reporters who now gave antifa info on how to blend in.
I would expect antifa to try to infiltrate any law enforcement or military organization for that very purpose.
He is a veteran.
If I was going to try and do that I wouldnt try to mix in with a NG unit.
You are more likely to be found out mixing in with units that work and train together.
If that is your goal, find out where they are deployed and simply get close to where they are but not close enough to be seen by them, then do your dirty work.
This guy is simply a Wannabee. If he was sent by someone, that someone is not very bright.
Was he a penpal of the Asian trespassers on trumps property in Florida?
So were Nidal Hassan and Lee Harvey Oswald
Could I see a link to that?
Bingo.
Now the question is was he a lone nut or part of the plan. (Im voting he was part of the plan)
I’m sure that thought has occurred to the National Guard as well, which is probably why he was spotted so quickly. Of course, he could have just been a “wannabe” hoping to play with real soldiers, but that’s not the way to bet.
#4. Singing “Somebody done him Wong”.
He made a Wong turn in formation.
Wong number, Bozo. AR 15’s are not military weapons any more. I held one in Cambodia, 1970 (belonged to the Provincial Governor who was driving me and my travelling buddy around Kampong Speu Province).
Damned thing was heavy as hell. Now that M-79 grenade launcher was really cool.
