Bump for the great Walter Williams.
Preexistance of the soul.
Benefits such as health care benefits provided by Medicaid, free clinics and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, nourishment provided by food stamps, school lunches, school breakfasts, soup kitchens, food pantries.
Hell makes me want to quit my job why bother when I can get the same thing for free.
First off, I have to say that I admire Walter & most of the things he has to say. Based on what he said about Americans classed as poor & their homes I thought it put me almost in the sub-poor category. I am retired now, but when I was working, I had no retirement plan, no health care benefits(not affordable), had Medicare only, bonuses(what’s that?), life insurance was what I had on my own. So, no big benefit program. Now, I am retired, living alone, but still do not consider myself poor & certainly not by international standards. The house needs work I can’t afford, but I still don’t put myself in the “poor” category. I have a little money in the bank, a 15 yr. old car, but still don’t consider myself poor. Hmmm.....maybe I am poor, but just don’t realize the meaning of the word anymore.
