The Lancet, a peer-reviewed medical journal that published a 96,000-subject study indicting the efficacy of the politically controversial hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19 has retracted its findings that the malaria medication led to an increased risk of death.

Some publications just can’t help themselves...
Yes! I was thinking the same thing. IIRC, there was another article (maybe the next year) that put the toll at 1MM deaths.
Look for CNN/NYT/WP/MSNBC/NPR/PBS/CBS/ABC/NBC/et al to run story after story after story, to ensure everybody knows.
Reclama irrelevant - another shot in the media’s information ops campaign landed.
The publication Lancet was, to put it not so bluntly, “hoisted on their own petard”. They finally got the point that they were a leftist, inaccurate publication and this time they got caught “big time” on the sharp horns of a dilemma.
They could either print misinformation and disinformation and hope no one noticed or later when caught by the truth, to try cover up their mistake by backpedaling on the disinformation in the article as not being of their own making.
About time that their “accuracy persona” was pierced and the truth allowed to flow out.
It was already shot for me with that 2003 100K Iraqi civilian deaths at the hands of the US.<<
But by interviewing households they were able to determine with 95% confidence that between 5,000 and 196,000 civilians were killed in the Iraq war 2003.
Of course once you have a range, you can take an average...that will work in Las Vegas!

Ever since the Obama statistics data manipulators and doctors who do not do the science on the ground with real patients took over the media, the institutions keep throwing themselves under the bus to cover up this criminal
Very well said, malach.
Normally, I would ROTFLMAO, but...it is how they roll. Geez, with this protest business, they don't even bother trying to use statistics to buttress their claims of black male genocide by police.
And when they do use statistics, they are like these. And then...it is like the lie that is halfway around the world before the truth gets its pants on-and even decades later, you have mornonic leftist quoting the statistic!
I recall, as a child, looking at an old printing press and thinking, I dont know anything that would merit being printed and having people be told that they have to believe it or even should believe it.the leaders of the American revolution went back into history to study past governments and ascertain what were the worst behaviors and try to create a government that would not be subject to them and to acknowledge that human beings had a different and better place in the world than brutal and powerful kings and dictators had allowed them.Well, that was true - except for that very thought itself. That was proper humility. And thus, wisdom.
The reality is that the printing press, and the speaking voice, are instruments of persuasion. Propaganda, in a not-necessarily-perjorative sense.
Claiming to be objective is arrogance. So journalists have the vice of arrogance as one of their defining characteristics. And, alas, it isnt only journalists who fall into that trap.
To me the defining characteristic of the Constitution is expressed in the phrase of its preamble, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterityThat is appealing to the longest view you can manage. What will be good for your great grandchildren whose circumstances you cannot predict?
Since the UKGuardian is about as left as you can get, it made me wonder why they were courageous enough to investigate.
I suspect they hate big pharm more than Trump, or maybe they suspect the company behind the study was manipulating the news to make money in the stock market.
Bastiat's The Law, published in 1850, is still the simplest to understand and most compellihng essay describing the idiocy of socialist tendencies and the lawless society it creates.
Here are a few paragraphs from the Law. See any parallels to DiBlasio's looters and corrupt city officials robbing New Yorkers blind?
In fact, history shows that governments twist the law so that it often acts in direct opposition to its own purpose.
It often destroys justice instead of maintaining it, and the law limits rights it is supposed to respect.
The law often puts collective force at the disposal of the unscrupulous who wish, without risk, to exploit the person, liberty, and property of others.
It has converted plunder into a right, in order to protect plunder. And it has converted lawful defense into a crime, in order to punish lawful defense.
