The U.S. Marine Corps on Friday issued detailed directives about removing and banning public displays of the Confederate battle flag at Marine installations an order that extended to such items as mugs, posters and bumper stickers.
Current events are a stark reminder that it is not enough for us to remove symbols that cause division rather, we also must strive to eliminate division itself, the commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. David H. Berger, said in a statement on Wednesday.

Incrementalism. The left always wins something on every issue. The right always wants it to be all or nothing. Been a lot of nothing for decades now.
Everybody thank Nikki Haley...../s
I used to interpret the Confederate flag as a sign of rebellion. But I know the others interpret it as a sign of white supremacy. So I agree with the Marine order.
All this b.s. is making me want to go out and get a Confederate flag...
...and flaunt it.
These hypocritical self-righteous prigs.
Half a century ago when I was an Army second lieutenant stationed at Fort Lewis, we received command guidance from Department of the Army to remove all black nationalist flags, decals and bumper stickers, even if it meant causing a racial incident. We followed those orders.
Oh I see — eliminate division by creating division. Yeah, I can see that. </sarc>

Dont let them tell you that protests, rioting and looting does not work.
WRONG!!!
Not commensurate with U.S. history.
The Civil War was a crucial part of our history, like it or not.
Had I lived in a different time and place, I would have been a Civil War reenactor. It was the bloodiest war in our history. And it is something I feel really close to. I may have been a soldier back then.
We cannot ever forget that.
On my honeymoon, my husband and I stayed at a former Civil War hospital; it was said to be haunted. We never heard anything, though. I do believe in reincarnation. Sorry, all.
Believe me, it’s not about white supremacy. It’s about states’ rights.
The South wanted to protect itself from Northern invasion, I believe. Please correct me if I’m wrong. Seriously, I would appreciate the input. Always stand to be corrected here; lots of smart people here. :)
Great idea! I will order one, just as soon as my husband permits me to do so.
I have been in touch with people about “elder abuse.” I am not elderly but he has confined me and restricted access to my credit card and ATM card. I have 50 cents in my wallet.
Any advice from knowledgeable FReepers would be very helpful.
Thanks!!!
You may find this interesting. I know you are a Civil War buff.
Surrender means that the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy; that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers; will learn from Northern school books their version of the War; will be impressed by all the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors, and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

This is one of the best booksI have read about the causes of the war. https://www.amazon.com/Disease-Public-Mind-Understanding-Fought-ebook/dp/B00B3M3W7M/ref=sr_1_1?crid=QMJ5203IQO70&dchild=1&keywords=a+disease+in+the+public+mind&qid=1591499630&sprefix=A+disease%2Caps%2C184&sr=8-1
What your husband is doing is abuse. If you were a friend of mine or my daughter, my advice would be to go to your bank, withdraw a sizable amount of cash and go to a safe place. Please be careful and start forming an emergency exit. God bless you and keep you.
Yep, that is the First National flag, the one correctly referred to as the "Stars and Bars". That name is often used erroneously for the CBF, which has a different moniker: "Southern Cross".
The one that really confuses people is the Third National, with its single red stripe placed vertically, opposite the blue field. It even turned up in a sport shirt design by Tommy Hilfiger in the 1999-2000 timeframe. Hilfiger obviously had no idea what it was - just another flag among many different ones. Best of all, the shirt seemed particularly popular with young black guys.
You need a therapist.
F you!!!!!!!!!!n
Today the Confederate Flag.
Tomorrow the American Flag.
It’s already begun.
